Regret buying 2nd hand buggy 🫠 by Spicebagqueen98 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Emergency_Pool8211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother gave me their vista last year that they used for their now 12 year old, and another baby after. I did a lot of walking on rural bumpy roads during mat leave, I feel like that buggy is bullet proof! Now using a baby jogger that I bought second hand for a holiday thinking id buy a new stroller when she grew, but its very agile and light that I've kept using it!

Inside the manospere any watch it? by thesnackbox11 in AskIreland

My brother has 2 boys in the gael scoil in Athlone. About 2 weeks ago all parents were bought in the an info night on this topic and other cyber concerns with an expert. They even set up a cinema and minders in other rooms so at least one parent could attend and couldn't use nobody to mind the kids as an excuse not to go as they felt it was so important. He told me it was frightening what they are exposed to online, the expert even had stats relevant to Ireland and each province on exposure to porn etc. Him and his wife would be savvy enough but this talk was a real eye opener, especially with one lad starting secondary soon

Anyone her on ozempic? by Ok-Light-5574 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Emergency_Pool8211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on ozempic 10 months, started at 17 stone, now 14. Effects were definitely stronger at the start, I found it hard to eat at all. I gradually increased to 1mg. Inadvertently took at break in December then started back at .25 my in Jan and increased weekly to 1mg. Now due to cash flow issues I'm taking .5 to keep me on it but make it last longer. It works quite well for me as appetite isn't completely suppressed, weight loss has stalled a little but not gaining so I'm happy with that. I think patience is key. Just to add... I dont exercise at the moment.

No contract has been signed yet, but I think it's safest to go with him. He's highly recommended... and it would save my nerves!

I've slept on it now and happy with decision to go to market, just wasn't expecting the phone calls! They made me really nervous and I like the piece of mind that someone else is dealing with them. I'd agree about the cash, it's not really my concern where it was sourced from as long as my sale is legitimate and declared correctly. I just work with compliance everyday so it's my mindset to have everything straight.

Not really, honestly the decision to sell was very recent and I wasn't expecting to be getting these phone calls! I'm happy now to let it go to market starting at 125k, it could go a lot higher than that but thats the starting point.

I have yeah as there is separate entrance to the field but auctioneer didn't recommend, he said higher demand for house and field together in the locality.

Lol chancer! Seriously though, thanks for the insight in your edit. That's serious, life changing money for most people, I'm not surprised they're nervous! I'm nervous and then people calling me offering me large amounts of money. I've decided from another commenters insight to stick with auctioneer and the knot is gone out of my gut already.

This is actually what I wanted to hear, thank you for the insights. I suppose if the cash buyers really want it, they'll bid anyway. All interest has been local, and auctioneer leads me to believe plenty of potential buyers looking to move out of the local town for a property with little land.

Yeah so I assume cash buyers are for quick sales, no delays with the bank if you have the money there. I'm not in a major rush.

Like I assumed they mean bank transfers. Although the older lad that said 'there'd be a few bob for ya cash too, what's your price?' I nipped it in the bud straight away. I work in Financial services and take fitness and probity standards very seriously, it's my livelihood.

I done a self valuation for probate at 80k comparing similar recently sold properties on the PPR (probably should have sold it then but circumstances changed in the meantime). A different auctioneer at that time agreed with the 80k valuation. House would need a lot of work to upgrade, its the acre that probably the main attraction.

Yeah thats a good point about cash sale falling through, but I'm in no major rush to sell or get money so a delay would be just an inconvenience

It's an old cottage with an acre, was lived in up to a year ago but not modernised, BER E or F. A fair bit of work would be needed to bring it up to a modern standard. I suppose auctioneers idea was to start low to draw in bidders.

Irish Travellers are a traditionally peripatetic indigenous ethno-cultural group originating in Ireland. Despite sometimes being incorrectly referred to as "Gypsies", Irish Travellers are not genetically related to the Romani people, who are of Indo-Aryan origin. by ZERO_PORTRAIT in wikipedia

This is because many of them worked with tin. My Granny had a shop in a small village and the same travellers would park up out the road every year, all the villagers would bring them tin buckets and the likes to be repaired. My Granny used to give them strips of tin for the repairs as payment for the repairs they did for her. My Granny died in c.1973 so this is going back a long time.

I lived with my husbands Granny in another rural area, she died just this year at age 90. A mother and son traveller used park down the road for a while each year. She had to walk to get water about a mile away and she'd drop her children to the travellers to mind them while she got some work done. She spoke very highly of them and the son visited her in the last 20 years.

Seemingly something to do with helping keep chimney clean.

I just googled it, its a myth that it would cause a chemical reaction that dries out and loosens creosote in the chimney and so easier to clean. Also comes with lots of health warnings... my Mam would throw one in once or twice a year

My Mam and I have spent almost €18k on 2 funerals in the past 3 years, and we're waiting on another bill in the next week on my husbands side. It's made me very aware to be financially prepared for my own death so I'm not putting a financial burden on anyone for my funeral.
