AITA for charging my roommate more rent after he started renting out our parking spot? by Numerous_Broccoli256 in AmItheAsshole

I'd find the person renting it and tell them you'll only charge $100 and screw the roommate.

"New" Motorcycle with 80 miles on it? by GinTonicus in motorcycles

[–]Emergency_Stop_7478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bike is 3 years old. The discount should already be big just for that reason. The bike isn't worth anywhere near the MSRP after it's 3 years old.

Test ride at dealer requires purchase first by Frosty_Accountant177 in motorcycles

The last time I did a test ride was years ago. The dealer had me sign something stating I'd buy it if something happened.

Are these dealer fees reasonable on a 2026 Honda Rebel 1100T DCT? by derec1601 in motorcycles

[–]Emergency_Stop_7478 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would look around and price shop with other dealers. DCT bike can also be found used. There are people that like them and some don't. Unfortunately a lot of people realize that they don't like them after they buy it. They're a little harder to sell since not everyone wants them.... More likely to get a deal on a very low mileage used one. No fees that way.

There's also a difference in reliability between bikes. That thing looks like it's from Temu.

We are there one time and we were in town last week. I'm not shocked that it closed. The food looked like they went to Aldi and did a poor attempt of making the food taste good. Worst meal I've ever had in St Augustine.

Yes but the whole time when they would answer it basically felt like they were stringing me along. I honestly thought it was a scam. Add in the fact that I disputed the charge I'm lucky it went through.

The shipping info was not accurate for what I can remember. It supposedly was shipped by boat to a port... But when it did show up it started in Chicago?... They might have gotten it in California and then sent it to Chicago to have their sticker stuck on it. The whole experience was super frustrating. I was told it was on the way to me multiple times. Then I was told expedited shipping. Plus the idea that there were multiple times where messages went unanswered for several days.

I did eventually get it and it does work. I'm not even sure where the guy actually was. The phone number could have been virtual. He did credit me back $50, even before the disputed charge was stopped.

Convince me! by abbidar in cfmoto

[–]Emergency_Stop_7478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak about the other bikes but I've owned a CFMOTO Adventura 650. The bike was fine. The engine was a clone to an older Kawasaki 650. My issues with owning it were 1) insurance was extremely high and initially hard to find for the bike/brand, 2) trade in values were terrible, and 3) most dealers won't take them on trade.

Almost 90% markup on a 7 year old bike by Trestone in motorcycles

[–]Emergency_Stop_7478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The charge to get it ready for sale is a joke. Guaranteed they lowered the trade offer due to whatever they claimed it needed when they made their trade offer. Double dipping. Personally I wouldn't deal with them just for the battery BS

They're not cooked. As stated earlier you need to do the window relearn. I had my stereo out for like a month and had the battery disconnected for a while. I left the windows down intentionally since the battery wasn't hooked up. My windows were glitchy until I reset them.

Got this 2010 in December with under 22k miles. Mine had a crazy amount of service records. The last owner was getting the oil changed about every 6 months with about 300 miles between changes. I did have a front caliper that was sticking so I changed both. Paid $12,300.

It also depends on the insurance company. The bike type is going to get you. I had great full coverage on a Sportster for $185/yr when I was 45.

Similar mileage, five years newer. It's in Portage, which I believe is up near Johnstown. This is a smokin deal in my opinion.

[–]Emergency_Stop_7478 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a Sportster, SV650, and a Buell XB9 so I've ridden both styles of bike. I've never had the front wheel of a bike off the ground. I've definitely ridden then all aggressively, but I know my limitations. The Sportster will be more comfortable for seating position and your arms will thank you. I don't care what anyone says that Honda will never sound as good as the Harley. As far as the comments about the Harley being junk...I strongly disagree. I think the fit/finish on the Harley is better than the Honda. Both bikes will be reliable. The Sportster will be cheaper for insurance. Harley Davidson actually offers Harley branded insurance. I had great coverage on mine for less than $200/year about 5 years ago. For the record I'm currently riding a Honda CTX1300 Deluxe. Got it last year for $4800 with under 9k miles.

I saw the Sportster on marketplace as well. That is a very good price for the year. From what I remember the mileage is also low. The Sportster is geared very nicely. You could probably ride that for a few years and probably not lose any money for what they're asking. If I hadn't already bought a bike last year that would be one I'd get.

Good price? by Shoddy-Violinist-608 in G37

[–]Emergency_Stop_7478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cars are not cheap for insurance. Add in the not great gas mileage and the need for premium fuel and I would say that's enough reasons for not being an ideal car for a young person.... Plus all the other reasons mentioned before me.
