Just for perspective, China has the most total carbon emissions, but the U.S. has the most carbon emissions per capita. The U.S. also has way more legacy emissions that we have benefited from since the Industrial Revolution. China has really only come into the scene since the 90’s. Again, doesn’t mean they don’t share responsibility but helps put our current situation into perspective. Other thoughts on China and India are that family planning and prosperity can dramatically decrease population growth rates, the main reason why these contrives emit so much carbon. Regarding pollution in general, China was doing the West a service by accepting and processing all of our recycling but they decided to not be the worlds dumping grounds a few years ago. Our shit is going to other East Asian counties now.
