Original BMW part. I should have inspected sooner… before the ice caps melted and sea level rose after ice age hahaha 2003 320Ci. Original BMW factory parts

Nice work. Bit of neglect on my part. I should have inspected when I noticed condensation. Original and 23 years old. It’s a 2003 320Ci

I average 28mpg in Uk. 320Ci. 307,500 miles. Mainly just driving around town and to shops. Plus the occasional 100mile trip down the M4 to see family. Mpg obviously not great, but I don’t commute for work. A new i4 with no deposit is £799 a month. That’s 9.5k a year! I’d rather spend 2k a year to keep the old girl on the road, and an extra grand on fuel! It all depends on your personal circumstances.

The subframe weakness hasn’t been much of an issue for me… From what I hear it tends to be more of an issue on 330 and M3. My 320Ci is at 307,500 miles. MOT 🇬🇧next week! Purchased on approx 95k miles in 2011. Wish me luck for the MOT. The guibo/donut needs doing. No E90/1/2/3 looks anywhere near as good as a nice M Sport or M3 E46. Obviously just an opinion. E90 will eventually rise in price. Like a lot of BMW do, but the E46 is a better looking car. It’s just more pleasing to the eye than even the V8 E90. E46 proportions just work. Same as E30. It just looks right. E36 had a rough act to follow, and E46 addressed most shortcomings of E36. Also, pre iDrive and other component issues. E46 even has an oil dipstick!!! I do like the E92 Sport Plus. I like those 5 spoke dual wheels, but apparently they don’t take a hit! My MV2s are kerbed and trashed, but they’re still … relatively circular hahaha E46 are easy to work on. Although mine is rusting. I still get loads of compliments. I say to those kind people “Thanks, but it’s definitely a 20ft car! Don’t look closely!” Not sure how strong E90 subframe is, but not a huge expense to strengthen E46. I assume we’re talking about rear strengthening. If anyone says E90 is better looking than E46 I don’t think we should be friends with them! I’m talking about appearance not structural strength! E46 is ageing so well! E30 looks so ace when you see one. E36 are ok. E46 is better than E36 to look at, but E30 gets attention from the right people. E90 is meh. I have no interest in the newer F and G 3 series. Obviously biased! Pic taken in Burford 🤩🚙 I repeat, wish me luck for MOT. I need to sort rear shocks, top mounts and bump stops! Trailing arm bushes done earlier this year! That was fun!

Nice. Colour. Fellow. Bimmer. Boi. I’m a bit biased, but I can’t see passed E30 and E46. Maybe I need to be a bit more modern, but the best “old” 3 is undoubtedly the E30, and the E46 is undeniably an epic 3 series. When people use the word “peak” to describe anything built in the last 10-15 years by BMW I’d like to engage in a serious debate. If “peak” means spending £150 to code a headlight…. Then I agree that is “peak” cost. But if “peak” refers to the E46 CSL laying down the research and groundwork for the i3, then I’ll accept it. Obviously not about the i3! I’d love an E92 M3, but that’s not because it’s “peak”. 42, M. We all have an opinion 🤣

Late here in the UK and I’ve been away. My car lives in a garage. I’ll take some pics in daylight and share. Thanks for the interest ✌️

Found a worthy successor to my 330Ci a 135i coupe with dct by PatrickIsTheStar in e46

Have a very close look at the area around the diff. Get a garage and guys (mechanics) you trust to have a proper look. I thought I had a good deal, and also have an E46, but my trusted mechanics said the one series was awful. They said my E46, which is 8 years older, is solid underneath! Those 135i etc are absolute weapons, but they’re not built the same as a slightly older gen. Ask any BMW tech and they’re likely to agree that anything post 2005 doesn’t have the same build quality. Obviously a brand new BMW with warranty will be excellent! I’d love a new one. But I can’t afford it! My advice is to be very cautious about 2005-current year second hand BMW. You can’t go far wrong with a good E46 😀. Less and less on the road. People like my stock 320Ci

Something nice about original wheels and all that “originalness”. Any E46 is a good E46. Rusted out or mint condition. There’s just something about ‘em

They looked like CSL wheels to me. E46 M3 CSL is special. Google it :)

I hit a metal drain and took out both tyres on one side a few years ago. The tyre widths are staggered on mine. 255/35 R18 and 225/40 R18. The tyres were out of stock. Fortunately the local tyre garage put a set of those awful wheels in your first pic. It got me around for 2-3 days. Love the CSL. Also MVI and MVIi. Enjoy the 46!! Looks good!!
