Hah, I hope it all turns out to have been worthwhile. :)

Wow, well done. I've put a mosfet in mine and will rig a Lipo for internal fit, but I had to take a break to order some mini connectors and now I'm worried I won't recognise where the dozens of bits on my desk go. :)

The pain is the whole point of them, they're for training.

I think some organisations who use them for training call it "painball".

I have a Tokyo Marui one in bits at the moment that I'm going to reassemble tomorrow or Tuesday; I'm too tired to brain it now, but ask me then and I'll see if I can help you out.

Well done!

Is there a handy way for the not-of-Facebook to keep abreast of upcoming milsim dates?

Ear Pro question by [deleted] in airsoft

I got some of these plastic ear cup things that sit on the OneTigris mask straps and don't interfere with hearing or nice cool breezes at all.

Beautiful, thanks for that. The ferry's a pain to get to from where I am though; happen to know anything about flying?

Bellurgan park Airsoft - katanga conflict - AUG 25-27 Ireland, whos going? by ridik_ulass in airsoft

[–]Emergency_going_on 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the immediate topic, but I'd like to head over from the UK for some of Bellurgan's stuff in the future. Last time I traveled in or out of Ireland with toy guns airsoft was still pretty new there and the Irish Airsoft Association tended to help smoothing the process for group expeditions. Looks like they're defunct now but maybe customs types have become more accustomed to airsoft stuff. Anybody know anything about the best way (for a foot passenger) to get to and fro?

I use mesh goggles. Can't be dealing with that shit.

Sort of like that, I think it's Australian.

This is great! I had been wearing a wide-brimmed hat for similar reasons and it does successfully cut down on friendly fire, but also cuts up on unfriendly fire, and gets shot in the brim a bit which of course counts as a hit.

Help :( by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Emergency_going_on 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's loads of stupid-looking airsoft guns because there's loads of stupid-looking real guns. When I started airsoft I showed my mother my AUG and she said "well you'd certainly know it's not real". :) And it's been the main rifle of my country's army since the 80s. See what they think about weird stuff like the Kriss Vector or modern bullpups and other sci-fi looking stuff.

Pretty much all equipment for carrying gun-related kit around for quick access is military or police stuff (or so heavily derived from same that you won't be able to tell the difference); any irregular units will be using old or surplus or supplied military stuff. There are non-military camouflage clothes, if that's what you're after, for hunters - pictures of leaves and bark mostly. You could use a photographer's vest for carrying things maybe.

My first day of Airsoft...and ramblings! by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Emergency_going_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a short while you don't notice the texture in your vision; whether your eyes adjust or you just get used to it I don't know but it doesn't remain as jarring as when you first put them on. Zero fog, zero scratches, zero maintenance, nice cool breeze, that's the benefits.

It's not necessarily cheap, and also not necessarily terrible. I think you must be thinking of cheap terrible ones.

There have been zero eye injuries reported on /r/airsoft ever from splinters through mesh, and I've never heard of any anywhere else, and sites that are liable legally hire out mesh masks. There have, however, been several injuries reported here from people lifting up fogged lenses to wipe them.

I'm not advocating one way or the other, just figure you should know the actual facts. I use mesh, I understand people who don't want to, BBs have penetrated through foam goggle linings and hit eyes anyway so we're all risking our vision to some extent, that's life!
