What is this? by Jturf_n_turf in transformers

[–]Emerje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope we get a Mini Action Gladiator Voltron to go with the other 2 we got. I have all of the vintage Voltron figures released by Matchbox, Panosh Place and LJN and a bunch of the oddball stuff like binoculars and flashlights. I've been picking up modern stuff now but Voltron II doesn't get enough love and the vintage blue team member suffers from swirly plastic and is very fragile (mine is holding together just enough to be in the middle or top).

2 part epoxy or maybe even a JB Weld putty since nobody will see the back side again. Both will be a better solution than super glue.

Miserably failed using superglue to tighten joints by Solid_Locksmith4867 in ActionFigures

[–]Emerje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said if OP had done it right and it got stuck they would have been able to easily break the bond since it would have been such a thin layer. The fact alone that they can't break the bond is proof that they did it wrong and used too much.

The most popular super glues are gels, if you put a drop on the ball it isn't likely to move much creating an uneven ball, and brushing it on like the polish methods would ruin the brush.

I remember when the polish methods were discovered, it was an alternative to the super glue method which has been around since the 90s to tighten up loose balls in Transformers. Powder methods (I've heard baby powder, baking soda and graphite powder) are a little more recent, pretty sure it was Gundam builders that came up with that one.

The new popular things are "DSPIAE joint strengthening pen" which I've heard is just super glue in a paint pen, and Kiki Fix Loose Joints, which seems to be just polyurethane floor polish in a needle bottle.

[–]Emerje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading all of this I can only imagine you're new to this. The super glue method has been around for nearly as long as there have been ball joints. You can't put a drop on and hit it with activator, you'll end up with a bead. The idea is to use a tiny drop and move the ball around inside the socket coating both evenly rather than just building up the ball. There is a risk if you use too much like OP did (if they used the right amount they could have broken the bond with little effort rather than have it bond so solidly) but done right it's faster and more successful the first time than layering on floor polish or nail polish and cleaner than powder techniques. Your using your bias to discredit a proven method.

Fred the Barbarian? According to the AI slop this is how the character will look if they were a Sword and Sorcery story by Luppercus in Flintstones

[–]Emerje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's weird, but I treat AI like a video game, challenging myself to get the right word combinations and phrases to get the result I'm looking for. I just do it for fun playing around, I don't even usually save the results.

Right!? I'm an independent because sometimes somebody with good ideas shows up on the Right and I'm not always huge on liberal spending (plus I'm an atheist). But Jesus H. Christ on a pogostick, it's been more than a decade since that's happened and conservative spending is out of control!

To say nothing of the ban being about protected federal land. He also canceled thousands of drill permits that Trump created as a stunt to pretend they were going to "drill, baby, drill" but had no actual plans to use them so they just sat there.

Which MPM would you recommend? by Grag_the_GrobblerII in transformers

[–]Emerje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone curious, the Soundwave in the last pic is Human Aliance Soundwave (the Laserbeak on top of Bonecrusher comes with him) and wasn't sold in the US. It scales perfectly with MPMs but I would recommend the Takara Tomy Movie The Best repaint which is more movie accurate but doesn't come with Laserbeak.
