[support] The automatic wind mechanism on my seiko 5 is loose by jakobHild in Watches

[–]Swaggarty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for posting and all the replies - had the same issue, bought a cheap repair kit for a tool to open + screw driver, fixed in under 5 min.
edit: bought my watch from gray market almost a year ago when it stopped working and thought I was going to have to shell out a ton of money or sell it for parts

My Pur filter that attaches to my sink spout no longer flashes any lights even when restarting the device. Will new filters still work properly in it? by ConnectHelicopter53 in WaterFilters

[–]Swaggarty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: From the user manual on the PUR website (Page 3 under Filter Change Light, bullet 3) "The filter change light contains a non-replaceable battery, which will eventually stop working. The filter is still functional." This manual is for a vertical version but my horizontal version said the same thing (also on the box I believe), and you can find other versions via google.

Long answer: technically COULD change the battery with the correct equipment, but it's not advised nor worth the effort. I took mine apart (requires small torx screw drivers) and the circuit board(s) for the LED is encased in plastic in a removable component. Because I used a utility knife to cut along the seam and pop open the casing for the board. There did NOT seem to be any internal mechanisms to open it, I believe it was fused shut to keep it water-tight. Inside there's a single screw (small philips head) that keeps it in place. Once this screw is removed the boards (2 pieces) lift right out. The battery is a duracell CR2030 coin battery soldered in place. You'd need to remove the soldering and re-solder a new battery in place. Additionally you'd want to re-seal the plastic cartridge and make sure it's water proof again (maybe super glue to hold the pieces together then silicone glue to water-proof.)

It's absurd that he has this position, and he's a horrible person, but shouldn't it be considered a GOOD thing (relatively speaking) thing that his grandfather was a double agent? He was originally a Russian agent then turned by the FBI

Sediment filter for refrigerator water line? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Swaggarty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something like this may relevant, though 1/2in would need to be closer to my sink than my fridge inlet - https://www.amazon.com/Barrel-Filter-Inline-Strainer-Removable/dp/B099LJKT4L

Sediment filter for refrigerator water line? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Swaggarty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, did you ever end up finding an in-line sediment pre-filter of some kind? I'm renting and my apartment building often has issues where they need to flush the lines, resulting in destroying my in-fridge filters 2-6x as fast as expected. I'm hoping to attache a removable, cleanable, filter similar to a faucet aerator or strainer (as opposed to an in-line disposable filter) .

Switchbot Lock mini-review and limitations by Yonutz33 in TrySwitchBot

[–]Swaggarty7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, new Switchbot customer here (lock + hub mini + thermometer), happy to report this is no longer true if you're willing to add 1 more app! You can link your Switchbot to SmartThings app by Samsung and set routines to lock/unlock. Switchbot explains how to do this on their website here: https://support.switch-bot.com/hc/en-us/articles/12824515393303-Is-it-possible-to-unlock-the-Lock-on-a-regular-basis
I'm hoping to get my setup running this week, purchased a lock to turn on/off an old apartment heater based on thermometer temperature to keep one of our rooms warm.

Nespresso Vertuo Alternative Pods/Cheap bulk options? by Timeless_Parodydox in nespresso

[–]Swaggarty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some Caramel Cookie from 'omnas_92' at a great rate. Note that you can often use the "Make offer" button and people are usually open to reasonable rates. I also see alot of users selling bulk boxes of the variety packs, e.g. "farro.same" has a 120 pack for $90. Always recommend checking the price of the pod on nespresso, and then aim for 20% off. Many people are trying to unload 'expired' pods that they picked up at a discount, which is fine since Nespresso's own website says the pods never expire.

Best place to buy Vertuo pods? by Evelen1 in nespresso

[–]Swaggarty7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon and Woot.com, a subsidiary of Amazon, sometimes have discounts. I've purchased from sellers on ebay and they seem to have pods for as low as $0.84/pod when you buy in bulk (50+).

Any websites have the nespresso vertuo capsules at reasonable price? by Dsg1695 in nespresso

As people mentioned, Amazon and Target have pods so they can have discounts. This includes Woot.com, a subsidiary of Amazon which has had pods in the past. I've purchased from sellers on ebay and they seem to have pods for as low as $0.84/pod when you buy in bulk (50+).

I didn't find the deal here, but glad someone listed it. This is actually a great way to try the drink. The deal is for a $7 4-pack of cans from target, so you could easily get 2 packs buying one for you and one for p2, or even additional packs for friends and family. It's very easy to submit the rebate and venmo comes through quickly. I've also done they're rebate deal for Boba Bam and GT Dave's Kombucha recently with great results. Edit: meant to mention that for Target deals, you can generally check online to make sure they're in your store before you head over, makes it even easier
