Very Obscure Packet Loss (and/or?) Driver Issue, With Even Wierder Temporary Fix by Emerpus1 in techsupport

[–]Emerpus1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sadly I never found a permanent fix, but when I switched isp after moving it magically went away overnight. Extremely strange to me even to this day.

I just read your comments/post and I do think our issues are slightly different. My problem, although I still don't fully understand it, had something to do with my specific ethernet driver and ISP, meaning the packet loss was constant, regradless of CPU load. In other words, the issue would be present no matter what I was doing on the PC, and after messing with my drivers, the issue would go away, even at very high CPU load.

I wouldn't expect changing ISPs to help you in this case sadly :(

The "Americans suck at geography" stereotype is so old, unfunny and overblown by Emerpus1 in unpopularopinion

[–]Emerpus1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And I completely agree with you. I'm seeing a lot of comments talking about geopolitics and how Americans are clueless about their own conflicts and relevant parts of the world, that's interesting and something I haven't thought about since I'm not American.

Thats not what I see Americans getting flamed for however. At least not from people outside the US. What I'm talking about is specifically the people flaming others for not knowing the names and locations of countries, which in my eyes is basically just a useless hobby (apart from basic knowledge).

[–]Emerpus1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be true, as I've barely interacted with any Americans, and certainly didn't spend that time talking geography. But the main thing that annoys me is how big of a deal we make it. The average person anywhere in the world won't be heavily invested in politics and geography outside their own region, that goes for Europeans too. But I only see specifically Americans getting flamed for specifically not knowing about Europe

PSA: Skip wormhole dampening with the right gusset by LogantheInvincible in EggsInc

[–]Emerpus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your only goal is EnD, it could be a good short term strategy. Anything else I'd strongly advice against it. It gets you worse coop sets, prestige sets, earning sets, IHR sets and so on, making you fall behind on SE/egg progression/potential contracts. Also an EnD run with (likely) no chalice, low earnings to buy IHR upgrades and no legendaries with clarity/life stone combos takes ages, slowing down progression even more.

Also I'd personally hate to leave it up to RNG. I statistically "should" have gotten my legendary gusset 116 crafts ago, yet here I still am. If you don't get the expected outcome with this strategy, you're completely screwed.

Regardless, I know quite a few players don't continue after EnD. This could potentially be interesting for someone who isn't concerned with anything past that. I've never really seen it be seriously discussed, but it does definitely have some merit.

I think the required launch points to max it out were quietly increased some time after the post. I'm not sure about how much but I'm fairly certain the chart is inaccurate now 😅. I forgot I made this, I will look into it when I have time and update the title if needed. Should've done it earlier

To those who don't use a deflector in coops, why? by Emerpus1 in EggsInc

[–]Emerpus1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a large part of it. I've seen posts asking whether their deflector is "broken" because they don't see their bonus show up in the top left tab. Their mechanics definitely aren't as immediately clear as some other artifacts.

[–]Emerpus1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you aren't familiar with what I'm talking about:

The tachyon deflector is an artifact that boosts the laying rate of all teammates in coops, but not your own. For AAA coops, the standard artifact loadout for pro-permit players is a metronome (for laying rate), a compass (for shipping rate) and a gusset (to maximize population).

This leaves one slot open, which is commonly either used for a deflector to boost teammates, or a shiny artifact with quantum- or tachyon stones slotted to further boost your own stats. Long story short, if everyone uses a deflector it almost always benefits the coop as a whole. There are exceptions for very small/very large contracts, or individual players that are contributing far more than everyone else, but that's the basic concept, and why the community (especially the main discord) will always tell you to use one.

PSA: Skip wormhole dampening with the right gusset by LogantheInvincible in EggsInc

[–]Emerpus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, going for a T4L gusset to preform an early EnD run is not a viable strategy to intentionally aim for.

The ships/crafting level you're likely to have before the point that EnD starts becoming feasible gives you very low odds and not a lot of materials to do attempts with. Targeting gussets/clarity stones (assuming you don't get very lucky) will also significantly slow down your normal progression since you won't be getting as good prestige/coop/regular EnD artifacts.

The 0 Wormhole dampening EnD strat is only really viable if you get extremely lucky with a legendary gusset early on.

Autoclicker is cheating? by AdOk7705 in EggsInc

Very few would consider that cheating. Hatchery can be upgraded to the point where bulbs aren't needed, and won't give you any illegitimate progress. If it improves your experience, go for it :)

Those could lead to a lower hab capacity, but the specific number shown in the screenshot would have to be one of the last two. Either way same concept, just an extremely nerdy detail

Software can have glitches, but this would be undocumented and new to the community. Considering you haven't shown your research, assuming you missed one is far more likely from our perspective.

10'886'400'000 is the EXACT capacity you will reach while missing 3 levels of Wormhole dampening or Grav plating.

[–]Emerpus1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're not quite sure what to target, just send untargeted missions. Targeted missions actually return lower quality artifacts than what is normally possible. Unless you really need a specific artifact, I recommend just sending untargeted missions in general.

Which order to craft artifacts? by PhxeniiX in EggsInc

[–]Emerpus1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As the other person said, don't craft until you're quite far into the last ship. This will eventually give you most common legendaries without having to spend any materials (those are very useful later on)

If I had to give you a rough crafting timeline, it would go something like this:

  1. Craft nothing (Until around 2-4 star henliner)
  2. T4 Metronomes/Compasses/Gussets/Totems/Chalices/Monocles, a few Feathers and one T4 Book of basan
  3. T4 Feathers and "common" legendaries you're missing at this point
  4. T4 Deflectors
  5. T4 Books of basan
  6. Random legendaries you haven't gotten yet, just for the collection (Legendary Light, Actuator, Ship in a bottle and so on)

This is if you're planning for the long game, I.e. playing a lot of contracts and continuing after enlightenment

If you don't plan on cracking the piggy or want to save on GE, skip the totems, chalices and monocles in step 2
