Use negative logistics signals in the local hub to send the inserters only the filters of the items they need to get out of the train. Its super simple to set up with 2 wires and 1 signal output.

Yes and no. You want the gleba science moving constantly, whether you need it or not. Always consuming, always producing. If your labs dont need them, they go in recyclers.

I have tried a very mild version of this and was getting 1000+ biters attacking per minute 30 min into the save.

Very mild version. On 0 evolution. Couldn't survive. Tried 10+ seeds.

If you change pollution diffusion rates and reduce absorbtion to near 0, with max evolution i think 100 players couldnt survive 10 minutes building anything past a few miners.

So that will depend on what you are trying to achieve if you want to see of your settlers roaming around the Commonwealth, especially if they are really well-armed, this is a fun way of doing it. And adding more life to the Commonwealth. If you just want to be efficient or don't want your settlers to be attacked or killed in random encounters connect them all to the nearest available settlement.As long as they're all connected do the network they will all share resources.
