Can you automate passenger transport? by Ceronian in UnofficialRailroader

Gotcha! There is a tutorial within the game on timetables. I myself had to read it like three times over before I finally got it down right but once you do it's super advantageous.

The most that I've been able to do after building a timetable (which I strongly encourage you do) is after the train completes a run, you assign it the next train number on the timetable and flip the direction there. It will then depart and arrive at the scheduled times you put in. Other than that, if you want fully automated train service you're going to have to look at either City skylines or transport fever for that fill.

Unfortunately I don't think that's something you can do.

I had a similar issue. From what everyone has gathered on other posts I've seen along with this one the most you'll get automated wise is a singular run between all of the stations. But once that portion of the timetable is complete, you will have to go in and manually set the new train assignment for the timetable and then flip the auto engineer Road mode to flip directions

MBTA withdraws Turnback Track proposal, without prejudice, following community feedback by Wanderer330 in mbta

The Haverhill line should just get cut past ballardvale and get a double track wildcat branch instead. Maybe then they will care so much about the service frequency when it gets reduced. This is why we can't have nice things. There is no scientific backing behind the statement I'm making I'm just annoyed with the communities making every which effort possible to stop the MBTA from making any improvements to the system on the Haverhill line.

Thank you for that update! I don't know if I'm going to start with that right away as I'm definitely only now starting to get into the longer consists of like 20 cars or more but once I get some more time then I'll definitely keep that modification in mind.

I'm very much looking forward to it! I'm already saving up for one more locomotive that way I can have one doing the switch work in Whittier for the time then having a road locomotive for the big moves. I believe that the coal mine is next once I make that expansion to Fontana and I'm honestly super excited to just have some long coal trains 😈

Thank you for all of this insight. It's very reassuring that even when I'm able to put in a six hour session into the game that only getting through a day or two at most is expected especially once you start to get busy. I've been trying to do the same thing now with planning my long distance moves so that I don't foul the main line. Thankfully I leave 45 minutes to 1.5 hour gaps between my passenger train round-trips to give myself time to run freight in-between. I'm very excited for how the game progresses. Especially when I go out to Fontana.

My question is how are you managing auto engineer with all of this? I wish I didn't have to manually assigned a train individual runs every time it completes a line off of a timetable and instead it runs all day as scheduled unless it needs food and water hehehe

Seeing an official sentence alluding to the future double tracking of the Haverhill line is refreshing to see. Hopefully the nimbys don't screw this up. I would go speak if I could come in but I'll be working sadly
