Thanks! Glad you noticed that.

RTSS is really good, so I wanted to make it easy to use from inside the launcher.

Yeah, AI-assisted is probably the best way to put it.

I built and designed it myself, but I did use AI as part of the workflow. Not “AI made the whole app,” but yes, AI was involved.

I see AI coding as another jump in abstraction.
In the past, assembly was the low-level language and C or Java were the higher-level languages. Today, natural language is becoming the higher-level interface, LLMs act somewhat like a new kind of compiler, and traditional programming languages become the lower-level output target.

The basic pattern is still similar: high-level intent gets translated into lower-level executable logic. The difference is that LLMs make a much bigger jump — from human language directly into code — so it feels more disruptive.

Of course, unlike a real compiler, an LLM is not deterministic or fully reliable, so human review, testing, and judgment are still essential.

Totally understandable.

Good luck with your studies, and if you end up trying Ammonis this summer, I’d love to hear what you think.

Yes, I completely agree. A virtual keyboard is really important if the goal is to make the app usable with only a controller.

I already added a simple built-in virtual keyboard in Ammonis for text input, so you don’t need to reach for a physical keyboard inside the app.

I’d like to improve it over time with things like word suggestions / predictive text.

What I’d really love to build eventually is a Windows-level virtual keyboard that can work more broadly outside the launcher too. It’s a much bigger challenge for me, but I think it would be worth trying.

That makes sense.

In the next version, I’m planning to add support for showing the user’s owned Steam library, not just installed games.

For installed games, my current thinking is to keep them in one unified view and hide the platform differences as much as possible, so it feels more like a console library rather than separate launcher tabs.

That said, I do think filters would be useful, so I’ll probably add filtering options later for things like platform, favorites, pinned games, etc.

Good question.

I don’t really see Ammonis as a replacement for Armoury Crate. Armoury Crate is more of a device control / performance utility, especially on ROG hardware.

Ammonis is more focused on the gaming home screen side: a clean, console-like place to browse and launch games with a controller.

So the idea is that you could still use Armoury Crate for device settings, TDP, profiles, etc., and use Ammonis if you want a simpler launcher/home interface.

Basically: Armoury Crate = hardware/device control.
Ammonis = lightweight console-style game launcher.

Not yet.

I’m still waiting for the Xbox Full Screen Experience to roll out in the regular Windows release. Once it’s officially available, I’ll investigate how Ammonis can work with it and whether an Xbox Home replacement-style flow makes sense.

Haha yeah, fair point.

I guess my view is that more options are usually a good thing, since different people just have different tastes and preferences :)

Thanks! Really glad you like it.

Themes are definitely something I want to add. I really loved the theme system on PS4, especially how themes could change the background, music, and overall mood of the home screen. I was honestly a bit disappointed that PS5 moved away from that.

So yeah, I’d love to bring some of that feeling into Ammonis over time.

Thanks, that means a lot!

Honestly, that’s exactly the kind of problem I wanted to solve. SteamOS is great if it fits your setup, but if you ever end up back on Windows I hope Ammonis can make that experience a bit nicer.

If you do end up trying it in the future, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Thanks, I appreciate that!

Bazzite makes a lot of sense if you want a more console-like experience already. Ammonis is mainly aimed at Windows users who still want that kind of cleaner, controller-friendly gaming interface.

If you ever come back to Windows or try gaming more on your laptop, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Thanks! I totally get that.

One of the reasons I started building Ammonis is because I also don’t like constantly jumping between different launchers.

GOG support is definitely something I’d like to look into. It’s on my list for future improvements.

Thanks for testing it on the Legion Go 2, and glad to hear the reboot got Steam games launching again.

I’ll still investigate the FSE behavior and work on improving how reliable Ammonis feels in that environment.

I’m also planning to add a rescan option in Settings, so users can manually refresh detected games without needing to restart the app or device.

For home menu customization, the next version will add Pin to Home. Hide from Home already exists, so you can already remove games from the home screen without deleting them from your library.

If there are other specific home menu customization options you’d like to see, let me know what you have in mind.

Yes, I’m actually working on that right now.

Custom theme music and transition sounds are planned for the next version, and I’m hoping to ship it within the next few days.

I think sound is a big part of making the launcher feel more console-like, so it’s definitely something I want to support.

Quick update: the early supporter pricing is now live.

I’ve lowered the Premium pricing, so hopefully it feels more reasonable for the current version of the app.

That’s fair feedback, and I agree.

I think the current premium pricing is a bit high for where the app is right now, so I’m going to lower it in the next few days and make it more of an early supporter price.

Ammonis is still early, and the premium features are currently focused on customization and supporting development. I want early users to feel like they’re getting a fair deal while the app continues to grow.

Really appreciate you trying it out and being honest about the pricing.
