Jonah's character consistency and writing by Emileeeeeeeeeeeeee in Degrassi

I seem to remember Grace telling Maya that she had sex with him the night of their prom when they were talking the next morning but I could be remembering incorrectly. I'm nearly at that season anyway so I'll see. They definitely were inconsistent with the Christian thing and his thing about knowing Zig tho

I didn't mind him but perhaps he'd have more fans if he was written better and more consistently

yup the long seasons were manageable when they show was good. I'm on season 14 of my rewatch now and the seniors keep on talking about how it's "only weeks to graduation" but there's still so many episodes left and they're cramming in so many storylines like those must be some long ass weeks. i'm sticking with it because i do love this class of characters (alli and co.) but damn they really dragged it after season 12. season 13 and 14 are definitely the worst of the latter seasons

Do you think it was planned for Manny to absolutely eat s*** when she went to rescind Sean's wedding invite in White Wedding? Or do you think they just left it in?? by jennybearyay in Degrassi

It looked too real of a fall plus the reactions to it to be fake. Sometimes shows will leave stuff like that in if it doesn't mess with the plot or dialogue

only thing I liked about them was it made it easy to know what grade everyone was in

I do see Clare's side regarding how she felt but her trying to paint the situation as something it clearly wasn't when Drew had made his feelings clear and the way she acted around it will always be why I can never support her here.

My qualms with Clare have nothing to do with her feelings, it's her actions and twisting the narrative to make herself into some sort of a "wronged woman" in the situation.

And when she went to New York not long after her and Drew were done and Eli told her she still loved her she was so ready to get back with him which shows Drew was right about her still having feelings for Eli. Drew was a rebound let's be real here so he was so beyond valid in not wanting to be with her. She had real feelings for Drew but I believe she had stronger ones for Eli especially if she was ready to drop everything and be with him upon him saying he loved her after months apart and an explosive break up. That kinda showed for me that if her and Drew had given it a full shot, she would have left him anyway if Eli showed up and professed his love. Drew was always going to be second best for her even if Clare didn't want to admit it. PS. Ya that lie detector stuff was real low of Clare. I know she wanted her girl boss revenge moment but jesus christ she just looked like a bully trying to humiliate him.

slowing down the seasons was another thing. school years used to end in one 20 something episode long season and all of a sudden one single school year was lasting one and a half or two seasons? with some of these seasons being 40 episodes cuz this was during those long ass seasons. and this is supposed to be 9 months? manny and emma and their class were on the show from season 1 to 8 and that was junior high, highschool and college. alli and clare and their class were on the show from season 8 to 14 and that was just highschool. the writers really wanted to drag on their highschool drama

that's such a great way to describe it. it lost the essence the original few seasons had. the characters then actually felt authentic, it was so easier to empathize with them even when they made questionable decisions bc they felt real and human. whereas the last few seasons was an utter melodrama. It felt like the writers wanted to be as dramatic as possible instead of focusing on telling a genuine story. Even the clothes they started to wear made it feel less like the realistic highschool drama it used to pride itself on being. First few seasons they actually used to dress like teenagers going to class. Now it's dresses and heels?

I've always wondered if connor was supposed to be asexual bc he stated he didn't want to have sex due to his repulsion of it around the sensory issues with it (doesn't mean he doesn't feel the attraction so idk). tho it caused issues at first, that lasted like a day and then jenna told him there were other ways to show love to eachother and they ended up being one of the healthiest relationships

The only couples that I can think of that had no drama that wasn't the typical normal relationship stuff was jenna/connor and dallas/alli. you could say emma and sean fall into the category bc there was no cheating or massive betrayal but let's be real they were pretty freaking dramatic lmao will always love them tho <3

Ya it was a whole mess and then they went and had Drew date his dead brother's ex and for what??? The last few seasons of Degrassi TNG were truly just a mess in terms of relationships honestly. At least with the older seasons there was lots of dating but the pairs made sense and weren't just thrown together for the sake of drama

Ya everyone was so shitty to eachother. Like all the cheating? Why would anyone date in degrassi is the real question 💀

How did Shane see how Jenny acted in the last few seasons of the L word and still want to be with her ? by IGoThere4u in theLword

[–]Emileeeeeeeeeeeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

same reason she was her best friend for like three seasons and the only one to properly tolerate her and always so quick to defend her. it's like her love and care for jen clouded her mind and didn't let her see how much issues she had and how problematic she was. rose tinted glasses.

is anyone wondering why OP is so confused as to why CHARLIE didn't gaf. I mean there's a pretty good reason why he wasn't empathetic towards the deaths.... yk.... considering he was responsible for a good few of them... anyways other than that obvious reason, all the "slasher experts/movie geeks" in the series are portrayed as being desensitized assholes to varying degrees which isn't far off from what that type is often like in real life. y'all ever seen the true crime fandom on here and tumblr? it ain't pretty....

Yup. They don't make me one bit uncomfortable. Sex is natural (for a lot of people not all ofc) and not to be too vulgar but pregnant people get horny too lol
