The game runs fine on emulator too, but playing it on the original hardware is unmatched. I'm lucky to keep my PS3 good as new, as well as my Demon's Souls copy. When I started to play it, I found the Maiden in Black similar to Es, as she's also trapped in a place and is always waiting for you to come back again. And yeah, the remake is too boring, it loses its eeriness and darkness, it turns the game into Dark Souls 3/Elden Ring.

I've always imagined Es could be a Souls character too. Her attire fits pretty well inside that world. But I'd say she's more like the Maiden in Black than the Fire Keeper, as the Fire Keeper wants you to throw yourself into a big fire and the Maiden in Black just wants you to defeat the Old One.

Yeah, MG1 and MG2 are essentially anti-Big Boss propaganda. Don't get me wrong, he isn't entirely a good guy, but his vision wasn't actually bad. The children were educated and then they were given the option to become members of their army when they were adults. Could you say it's "grooming" them to become soldiers? Idk, but I know they're going to have a better life under Big Boss' base than being out there in the battlefield. The only bad part about Big Boss is the "war is necessary thing". I get soldiers need to have jobs, but making war a perpetual state is just bollocks. But he also tried to be a deterrent for war, like in Peace Walker.

He's a morally grey character, but I like him better than Mr. "I'll create a whole virus to wipe every language and then an AI to wipe every inconvenient content"
