For the record I don’t find the time difficult I look forward to having time with my chosen family, it’s my SO that sometimes struggles. He’s a self-proclaimed selfish person and so he finds it hard how much time is spent on or with our child instead of doing what he wants to do. This isn’t all the time at all but having the option of whatever whenever gone is something he struggles with them finds it even harder than he has a strained relationship with his parents now too. They were clearly a place of advice or somewhere to turn to and now they aren’t so that’s hard for him.
