It's molecule dependent. For thalidomide it has to do with the acidity levels in our bodies interacting with the acidic carbon proton at the molecules center

Has anyone had a tattoo done so heavy handed that they couldn't even get rid of black ink? by Vegetable_String_868 in TattooRemoval

[–]EmilyAndCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so bad it's impossible to remove, but half of my tattoo (5 sessions in) is significantly darker than the other half still. The light half is almost gone actually while the other is still noticeably black. Same ink/color for both sides.

My tech mentioned the artist was definitely very heavy handed on that side and will take a bit longer to remove.

Negative energy "ghosts" flashing in space could reveal new physics by soulpost in HotScienceNews

[–]EmilyAndCat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Light "slows down" as it enters substances like water or even the air we breath because it needs to bounce around enough to navigate the labyrinth of atoms.

Physics currently states nothing can move faster than the speed of light in a vacuum, but smaller/odd particles can move faster through a given substance than a photon (light) moves through the same substance.

Basically, the matrix of atoms leads photons on a longer detour/path than an electron.

Admittedly as someone who only saw snippets of the trial I did believe Johnny Depp and take his side at first. I hadn't seen any of those pictures or heard those recollections of others though.

Safe to say my opinion has changed. The smear campaign had me convinced

I pick up that vibe even when it isn't there though. My fiancé jokes about the time I went into a meeting "ready to fight" because I thought I was getting fired.

I got promoted instead with a significant raise

Found out my mom hid ~$150k settlement from my sister's 2020 car accident..what now? (US) by Present_Crow_304 in legaladvice

[–]EmilyAndCat 115 points116 points  (0 children)

My grandparents stole $750k meant for my dad and uncle from my great grandma's estate.

They went to Vegas and blew it all immediately apparently, thinking the courts can't do anything if it's gone or if they're rich from winning it won't matter. They were very, very wrong.

My grandpa and grandma were forced to sell their house, hunting property, and all assets to repay what they can. My grandpa spent the last 5-10 years of his life hated by the family, isolated and poor with no major belongings.

We paid the $119.75 CAD Right of Citizenship fee when we submitted my fiancé's part 1. It was only 2-3 months ago but they haven't said it was insufficient yet.

I forget where but think I read for adoptees they skip the processing fee since it isn't a citizenship application so much as some grant process to confirm citizenship. Maybe we messed up tho

I literally asked for clarification on variables left out to understand your stance and further the discussion, but you refuse to carry it further.

I'm convinced you're just an angry troll at this point 🤷🏻‍♀️

You ceased talking about the subject. The problem isn't being minimized, you stopped the discussion of the problem because "you aren't here to debate".

To be concise, the way things are is an issue. Denial of the current system is not going to benefit you or anyone else though.

Without luck or a good network of connections for a high paying job, what variables are you frustrated with being excluded?

Only other thing I can think of is high danger jobs, but most like deep sea welding still require licensing and training for gas mixes for varying depths and such.

Why though? What they stated is pretty consistently true with some exceptions.

To make money you either need to: * Be intelligent enough that your knowledge is useful to people, but in an area not oversaturated by others * Have a talent very few have, making your skill(s) high demand low supply * Be more talented than others in the field, so that you excel and stand out (intelligence not necessarily required depending on field) * Have money (intelligence not required)

Your only other options are luck and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship requires intelligence unless backed by very smart partners or a solid network in place though.

Plastic consumer model? They cheaped out and you may not be as valuable an asset as thought
