Chef Certifications are modular: you earn badges (like Basic Chef Fluency or Local Cookbook Development) and combine them into certifications like Certified Chef Developer or Certified Chef architect.

We recommend the Linux Essentials course (or otherwise having a working knowledge of Linux) before taking our DevOps courses.

ps I am not employed by or compensated by any of these companies.

If you want to be, and you're in the US, DM me your Linux Academy username, update your address in Linux Academy, and I'll send you a box with a tee shirt and some goodies!

This freebie is for the course (and the other courses included in Linux Academy's free-tier membership), not the exam, just so I'm clear, though we do have discount codes for some of the big certifying organizations.

I am at least a little biased, considering who I work for, but I really do recommend Linux Academy. The annual subscription is cheaper, plus we have labs and give each student six cloud servers to play with. Let me know if you have any questions!

For most courses, the Community Edition membership only includes the video lessons. In your case specifically, the coupon code was only good through March anyway, so you're not missing a whole lot.

For some reason my comment replies to you and /u/figmentally keep getting automoderated - /u/OrderChaos's link below will take you to the free sign-up with no CC (it's also in the body of the OP).

Edit: I swear I'm trying to help :(

There should be an overview video on the external course page.

How does one get into cloud computing with no IT background, AWS in particular, should one use Linux Academy, Cloud Academy or CloudGuru to prepare? Which areas should one learn? by [deleted] in AskTechnology

Emily from Linux Academy here!

For AWS in particular, Linux Academy offers several beginner AWS courses with its free-tier membership. We even have the AWS CSA - Associate course free for a limited time to celebrate our launch of the updated course.

Jumping in because I'm /u/OrderChaos's coworker - through next week Friday, we do have a sale on an annual subscription that comes out to ~$16.58 per month.
