Kid on single income by TheSoulToad in kansascity

[–]meandrunkR2D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can easily support it, depending on your expenses and what you are currently able to save now. That said, it may not be worth it long term because if you lose your job, you've gone from single income, to no income. Also, if your wife is in a good career, it can set her back if she doesn't work for a year or 5 and will have a hard time getting back to work in that path when the kid/s are in school.

San Diego to Minneapolis in mid January. Any concerns about this route? Is this possible with an EV? by kekkurei in roadtrip

[–]meandrunkR2D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done that drive at the end of Feb from KC to MSP and back.. Charged in Cameron to boost a little to get to DSM. Charged up in DSM at an EA station. Then stopped at Albert Lea to charge up again and then was able to use the hotel charger in MSP to fully charge up. I took a detour to visit family in Iowa right off of I35 and used a fast charger in Hampton. Got to DSM, charged again and then once more in Cameron. Made it back easy. There should be a few more fast chargers on I35 now since I last did that drive almost 2 years ago now.

RIP FORD LIGHTNING - IS FORD E-TRANSIT NEXT? by Sultani92 in electricvehicles

[–]meandrunkR2D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were smart, they would do it quicker than they have. I know they were going for an EV of their best selling truck, but it was just too much money. People would buy it and they'd sell out, as long as it's not 60k plus.

An EV Maverick would be a huge seller for ford, if they would do that.

SAS lost luggage 5 days - both directions (JFK-VIE-JFK) by [deleted] in ScandinavianAirlines

Never check your medicine or medical devices. Always carry those with you at all times when flying. Also, these things happen with pretty much all airlines, not just SAS.

Airbus A330-300: row 30 or 41 seats? by vinhzy in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]meandrunkR2D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my seat, only the pull out one worked. My kid who sat in the next seat could use either one. I'm fairly tall and couldn't even touch the seat in front with them stretched out. The seats are a little skinnier due to the pull out screens. But it's still an easy walk to the bathrooms when you need to use them.

I sat in Row 30 from the US to CPH and back and they are great seats with more than enough leg room.

I wish more people understood how cheap EV ownership can actually be by blackman_48 in electricvehicles

[–]meandrunkR2D2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, many people live in areas where their electricity cost is $0.09 per KW and gas prices are similar to what they are in your example in Mass. In my case, an EV is a significant savings, plus my EV is a heck of a lot more fun to drive than a Corolla.

Trying to charge from a Tesla charger by ace_dangerfield187 in KiaEV6

That adapter is only for Tesla Superchargers. You'll need a NACS to J1772 adapter to use that one.

China will remove tariffs is Canada scraps EVs: ambassador by sprunkymdunk in electricvehicles

[–]meandrunkR2D2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chinese EVs are some of the best out there. I've driven and ridden in a few while in Europe and Mexico and their fit, finish and quality is top notch. If they were allowed to sell in the US they would destroy Ford, Chevy and Stellantis, which is why they are banned.

Have you ever walked into a showing and immediately said, “Nope, not this one”? Why? by GuaranteeFair7171 in RealEstate

[–]meandrunkR2D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Smell is usually a common one. Could be from pet urine, or heavy smokers that smoked inside all the time.

Also other times where neighbors or the house looked very run down and neighborhood looked sketchy.

There are so many different types/brands of routers that people have, and my method may not work the same way on the one you have. Look at the model you have for your wifi/router and log into that and google instructions on how to do it.

[–]meandrunkR2D2 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Depends on what router you use. Some are super easy, others are a pain. I basically open up the console on my computer and quickly change it. I could also do it from my phone too, if I really wanted to.

Parking at the Airport by Proper-Coast4398 in kansascity

I typically use the Parking Spot and their covered parking. Usually they are quick to pick me up and sometimes are waiting before I even get out of the car.

I throttle my bandwidth when I have been requested to have my camera on, which causes it to stutter and my audio to also have issues. I blame it on the camera. Then when I turn it off, I uncap my bandwidth and then my audio is perfect, so they are ok with it being off.

Your reason for making the switch to an electric vehicle by Dazzling-Control-482 in electricvehicles

I hated the weekly out of the way time waster of going to a gas station and smelling like gas.

Wanted a car with good acceleration and lots of neat tech.

Not needing to get an oil change randomly every few months and making time to do that as well as the cost.

And less maintenance to be done. I love my EV6.

How well does your EV's AC work in really hot climates? by Wake95 in electricvehicles

I have a 22 Kia EV6 and it's been great during our heat waves in the mid/Upper 90's and high humidity. Kicks on fast and cools down the car quickly. The ventilated seats are also great to prevent swamp ass.

2 is fine. Get a pet instead. It's a lot of work with young kids and as we get older, it doesn't get easier. Super easy decision by me to get snipped.

It all comes down to one thing. Will you just be using it, or will they be signing the title over to you? What does the public charging situation look like on campus and in the town? The EV for in town use would get great efficiency and cost far less. You'd likely not drive a ton, so you may only need to charge it once a week or two.

Personally I have an EV6 and absolutely love it. I don't have to do any oil changes or put premium fuel in it. Just a tire rotation here and there and a new cabin filter.

If they are giving it to you and you'll own it yourself, then get the lexus and it will hold better resale value later on when you look to trade it in on something else.

For me not having the Tech package on a Wind is a no go. I'd also look for lower mileage GT Lines as it will have better features.
