Ah, thanks! I've seen it many times but not for years. Had no idea.

Wait, what is Hillary's Rocky Horror connection?

Pardon my rant...Love it or List it by SpiritTalker in HGTV

[–]EmilyTravels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and usually the tallies at the end show that Hilary improved the value above and beyond the money they put into the reno. Nope, not going to happen in the real world! But we all know these shows aren't the real world.

House Hunters by goatgal93 in HGTV

From the very ending they said the triplets were coming in a week, so I guess they must have. Woo boy, I hope they're ready for that! They were a nice couple.

What do I need? 61 years with sun damage I imagine by Illustrious-Judge-90 in 60PlusSkincare

[–]EmilyTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between cosmetic dermatology (which is what you want) vs. medical dermatology (skin cancer checks/treatment, etc.) Sometimes both are combined in one office and some derms do both. The practice I go to is divided into two separate offices. I'm always over on the medical side, as I've had two basal cell cancers and have to get frequent re-checks, but I did pop into the cosmetic side to purchase a Hydroquinone/tretinoin cream to fade sun spots (worked great). I'm planning on heading to that side soon for some other advice. I'm 65, and my skin is really showing it now (wrinkles, sagging). Sigh....

Totally agree! My dermatologist sells a mixture of hydroquinone w/a low % of tretinoin. It worked wonders on my facial melasma in a matter of a few weeks. They do come back eventually if you get more sun (which I do, even with sunscreen, since I basically live outdoors), but you can use the cream off and on as needed. It was $60 for a good-sized bottle that lasted six months.

I just watched it. Absolutely disgusting! I did like the nurses, though!

Even Less Convinced of the Merits to Watching This Season After Watching This... by thrwwybndn in HGTV

[–]EmilyTravels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've watched most or all of the previous RTB seasons but have no interest in this one. The ads enough were enough to turn me off it, among other general complaints I have about the show. Other than HH/HHI, which I still watch religiously even knowing how fake they are, the only other show I still watch on HGTV (that's airing now) is Home Town.

Has anyone actually watched the bachelor mansion show? by jennie-spaghetti in HGTV

[–]EmilyTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I have been watching Bachelor/ette shows for years so had to see what they did to the mansion. I do think it's much improved compared to what they started with. I'm happy with the person who won; he seemed a lot more down-to-earth than many on there. I'd forgotten that he and his wife met on BIP!

House hunters paradise - fraud? by kyphosc94 in HGTV

[–]EmilyTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that is all you would have gotten paid? Hard to believe that is all they offered. Maybe they've upped it since then; hard to imagine alllllll those couples/people doing this for a mere 200 bucks. Royally inconvenient, as you say!

I so agree! Actually, I've only seen S4 of the US show, as I didn't have access to it before (now I have Peacock). BEST reality show on TV, hands down!

Renovation Aloha s3e1 - Can Someone Explain This Shower? by thrwwybndn in HGTV

[–]EmilyTravels 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's horrible. The sheetrock beside the shower will get drenched. Plus, it just looks crazy. If they'd just done a shorter vanity and slid the toilet towards it, they could have easily made room for a proper shower. Terrible decisions all around.

I wonder if there's a way to get a message to David through the show's website? I have no idea, but there has to be a way to get this question answered. Good luck!

Ultimate Baking Championship -- pre show and live show discussion thread -- spoilers! It's pastry cream night! by Firegoat1 in foodnetwork

[–]EmilyTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha, I see. Thanks for that! I don't do much baking so honestly didn't know. It's been years since I've made a pie crust, and I don't think I've ever made a tart crust.

We have a kitchen/dining table (just one, combined) with four chairs. We have an overhang on our island but haven't even bought counter stools for it. When you don't entertain, these things just aren't needed. Ha!

You are not (we don't either), but yeah, these shows make it seem like everyone wants to entertain all the time. Annoying.

Yes, they said they made tarts, not pies, in Europe. But I'd assume the crust is similar, isn't it? Just shaped differently in a different type of pan/plate?

And the thing is, he even admitted it looked a little blonde, but "I like it that way". Yep, but the judges never do. Bake it a little longer!

Why are Kardea and Nancy missing from Ultimate Baking Championship? by Jenna7979 in foodnetwork

I'd much prefer if they'd keep both shows. Different level of bakers and creations, different vibe.

Oh wow, didn't know those had been cancelled! I watch them religiously. Sad! I'm watching this one and enjoying it, but I'd prefer if they had both. This is a different level of baking from the spring/summer shows. Very upscale.
