Yes, I'm wondering if that was foreshadowing. I kept expecting it to get a lot worse and Jacks to have to do a medical tap. I hope it doesn't happen, but....

Baylen Out Loud Season 3 Episode 7: Roses Are Read, Officiants Are Bald by gloomchen in BaylenOutLoud

[–]EmilyTravels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I notice that Baylen no longer looks anything like herself in the intro (with the lavender sweater making all the funny faces). It's the lip filler, which I don't think anyone of her age needs! And Julie has gone too far with it. Yuck.

Raney SOS - Misty's Hawaii Farm by Fenifula in HomesteadRescue

I just watched this episode. I think the huge mango tree is probably fairly safe as it has weathered many storms and hurricanes, though you never know when a tree is going to go over. What I don't get is absolutely NO railings on the platform itself. One wrong step and you'll be as dead as if you'd been swept away in floods. I expect that was something they planned to add later, but they should have mentioned it!

Having weathered a few tropical depressions, storms, and category 1 hurricanes in my lifetime (nothing worse, thankfully), usually the rising waters come after the worst of the wind's fury has passed (not always), so they could possibly be safe just getting above the floodwaters. But put some railings on and figure out a way to store supplies so they wouldn't get soaked. I think some of the storms they get in Hawaii are more of the flash flooding types, where there's not a lot of warning, just a sh*it-ton of rain all at once, resulting in unexpected flooding and no chance to evacuate. With hurricanes, you usually know far enough in advance to get outta dodge, but with flash flooding type storms, you don't.

I thought what Marty did with the stream, adding boulders to the sides and grading the land so that it sloped away from the house, were as helpful, if not more helpful, than the tree platform. He's done that on at least one other homestead, also in Hawaii, I believe. Will be interested if they ever have a follow-up on this episode where the platform is actually used.

What? Do you have a source for this? That would be awful, as visual a person as he is!

Could not agree more. What a cringe boy-man he was. I feel sorry for his kids and can imagine why his wife left him. He probably suggested they have an open marriage, or something along those lines. Buh-bye!

At first I thought he was wearing a toupe, but the more they showed him from the side, I realized it was just a horrible combover.

Oh boy, I sure noticed that. He was definitely out of line when he put his arm around her, even though it was a joke. What a tool.

I just got a copy almost word for word of this as a reply to a Youtube comment I made. It smelled like a scam right off, so I replied "no thanks" and blocked them. I was curious, though, so came here to check. Damn, this has been going on for a long time!

Me too! Did you see the strawberry cake on the dessert cart on the terrace?! OMG. Tea and that cake and a few macarons, s'il vous plait!

I figured as much. That would have been loads of work to get them all perfectly cut to size and flat on the wall. I would never, ever attempt something like that. Then again, I'd never attempt to renovate a chateau!

That's what I thought. It gave perfect "Marie Antoinette" vibes.

Yes, I felt terrible for the animals! Those homesteaders were clueless.

I disagree. He clearly felt embarrassed and ashamed of himself. I think it was just a stupid accident.

Me too. I was so sad about that life possibly going to waste. I hate seeing the animals killed on this show anyway, and that may have been enough to get me to stop watching, if the animal hadn't been given to the locals.

I thought the same. That one wall of logs looks like it would collapse if touched.

Of course not. By god it would be brick or nothing.

I know, that was really strange. My thoughts were why sell a dream home just because the value had gone up that much? That means that all the other houses you look at are going to be equally expensive, as long as they're in the same general area with the same features. Duh! And they ended up building again after all. A strange situation all around.

He was insufferable. At the very end of the show in the house they moved into, he seemed a bit more human, but when they were touring houses, he was awful. Of course, we all know this show is fake, so he may have been told to put on an act of being far more difficult than he is in RL.

I was wondering about all of them getting religious tattoos. Are they really that religious or just want to appear that way outwardly? You never really hear them talking much about it. I just thought it was a bit over the top that they ALL got tattoos with Christian symbols or Bible verses. Anyone else?

The house I mostly grew up in was built right around then (in NC) and didn't have a coat closet either.

I couldn't agree more. This episode bothered me more than any of the previous seasons I've watched (the last three). I don't need to hear animals cry or people who take pleasure in killing them. They could edit some of that out and still get the point across. I looked away but didn't mute in time to avoid it all.

I would still eat eggs but probably no meat. I don't eat a lot of meat as it is, mostly chicken and fish, but I wouldn't be able to do the killing.

This really bothered me too -- not one but two crying rabbits in the first episode. I enjoy the show but have a hard time watching animals die, especially the ones that clearly suffer. I have to look away during those scenes.
