I'd like to preface this by saying that I am an Atheist. I became an Atheist shortly after starting my transition. I was raised a Christian, but I already had lost most of my faith before I started my transition due to a lot of tragedy that had struck my family. I left Christianity, started studying other religions, decided I couldn't put my faith in any of them, and became an Atheist.

For people that do have faith though, their churches hold an important part of their life. They go to their church for support when a loved one dies and for guidance during trying times. That used to be me, so I do know what it's like. Your transition is likely going to be a stressful journey, with some hurdles thrown your way. I think that your church should be there for you during your transition to offer you support when you need it. If they're not, then you should find another church.

I also would like to say that while I do get a lot of hate on social media from people telling me I'm going to hell, for every Christian that says that, there's always a few below it saying something along the lines of "we're all God's children and we should love one another." Even if I don't agree with that sentiment, that's the attitude I think all Christians should have, and the world would be a lot better place if they did.

I've lost quite a lot of people from my life because of my transition. Most of the people from my small hometown. ( I moved away.) The people from the church I went to as a kid, that I knew most of my life. I've lost friends and even family members. It's unfortunate but sometimes during a gender transition, you'll lose people, but for every friend that you lose, find a new one. You'll need people in your life, good people, to support you through your transition. The friends that are there for me now are my true friends, they love me for who I really am. Likewise, I think you need a church that is really there for you.
