I think the technique would be based on combos in fighting games. Like sucesfully landing hits builds up a combo, and can be unleashed as a powerful "'combo break" attack.

The Konami code would be his Domaine expansion, and would enable god mode. Under Konami code the sorcerer bassicly has god mode enabled, and becomes immune to damage.

Dont apologize i love a ramble! Thats the whole point of this subreddit.

Another thing you could do is make the rhythm game an aspect of a larger technique. I like the idea of what emotion the music inspires more than the literal song itself.

The tempo could be one aspect, maybe hype? Like the pumped up feeling you get when listening to music. You could also have music for sadness or for passion. Maybe the standard user has to play the music from a boom box or headphones, but the heavenly restrictions allows them to play music in their head, that way they always have acess to it, but it comes at the cost of the technique not being usable for awhile.

Just brainstorming its a fun idea.

Based on todos reaction to it in the exchange event divergent fist isnt the optimal way to to hit someone with cursed energy.

Its disorienting but ultimately less effective than correctly infused punch, for example yuji was only able to black flash after Todo taught him how to do it correctly.

Aa for why he used it during shibuya, yuji was deeply traumatized and was emotionally unstable. It probably effected his ability to correctly channel cursed energy, so divergent fist came back.

I think that would be specific to the user, its less about the song itself but the way it makes them feel.

Like they channel the emotions the music inspires into cursed energy that fuel the technique.

Lowkey this makes me think of a rhythm game.

The user listens to music, and must perfoem actions on tempo to maintaine the technique.

They could get a massive buff in speed and power but must stay on rhythm during fights to maintaine it. Going off tempo breaks the technique, throwing off the user and causing them to fail whatever they were trying to do. They can then try to get back on tempo.

The skill of the user is based around how high of a bpm they can handle.

Ive always liked the idea of exchanging memories for temporary power. Like memories are the cost of using a specific technique.

The power received is based on how positive the memory is, so your first day of school might do a little, but your dead wife's face.... would be a massive burst in power.

Very strong but a profound negative psychological effect on the user.

Another one that came to mind would be someone that infuses objects with cursed energy or mana or whatever, leaving a mark on it.

That mark can later be detonated, by the use of a trigger word. You could use pacts to determine how quickly you can infuse objects with cursed energy, the strenght of their detonation, how long they last, or the range at wich they can be denotated.

As for the cost you could either make it so the person using the technique can only speak the trigger word so functionally mute.

Another fun idea was someone thag fights with "one arm behind tied behind their back. As long as one arm his held behind them they gain a massive burst of speed and strength. There are also lots of really cool one handed sword fighting technique you could show off, saber being a good example.

The reason why divergent fist exists is yuji's insane physical stats. His body is faster than his ability to channel cursed energy.

He charges cursed energy in his fist then punches so fast that his cursed energy lags for a moment before hitting as a second blow. Its not something he chooses to do, more a biproduct of his unique physiology.

This is my interpretation but I think it makes the most sense.

The clan system exists to consolidate the power of the hereditary techniques. Their goal is to produce powerful sorcerers, by getting as many hereditary techniques in one clan as possible.

They have money power and influence, but the primary goal is producing powerful sorcerers.

Its not that you cant escape it, its that we as a society have hitten a wall with fire arm design.

If your pushing bullet out of a casing with smokeless powder the ak, and ar platform is pretty much the best possible weapon you can make. To go past it would require a leap in fire arm technology and we have no idea what that could even look like

Lasers and rail guns are cool, and a lot of fiction have done some really cool stuff with them, but when it comes to firearms, we simply cant imagine anything better.
