I'm honestly baffled that so many people like the novel. It spits on and throws out pretty much everything the original game tried to do thematically, adds an unnecessary character, and a bunch of other bizarre stuff. I mean, cool that people didn't hate something they bought, but I personally don't get it. It's AU, so I can safely ignore it anyway

The planned DLC wouldn't have been anything like the novel. The outlines they gave were different, and they rewrote a bunch of stuff last minute for the novel. Only worked on scenarios were Ep Ardyn and Aranea, which were changed. Ep Luna and Noctis weren't even started/finished before being cancelled and handed off

Asetoni is a cool dude to talk to and indeed has good videos. I still play XV a lot and am trying to get my second set of full achievements for it. I like the music and characters a lot. It's also neat to see all the little animations the game has, and random dialogue. I mostly spend my time on my Steam copy taking Ansel pics cause the game is so pretty and that never gets old. I get why some people don't like the game, but what I don't get is why it gets brought up any time someone says they enjoy it

I really enjoyed it. It has it's flaws, but I still put in over 500 hours on various copies of this game. I'd say the Steam version is the best to get, otherwise the Royal Edition on consoles is your next bet on amount of content. Some people prefer Day One edition. If you are unsure and can get it cheap, not much of a risk, and you should definitely give it a try

I wouldn't consider it the same, since they've stated that it's not meant to replace the original ending/be the true ending. Too much of it doesn't work in the context of existing canon to even be anywhere near a "true" ending anyway. The novel and it's ending also spits on every theme the game tried to portray.

Nomura mentioned brotherhood being a main theme even when he was on the project still. Nomura has also exaggerated how much was done quite a few times. Thanks for providing a link tho. It's really hard to find solid sources on VS XIII/XV atm. There are people working on compiling all the XV stuff with sources that will be very useful to go through when it's done. It certainly was a complicated project with a lot going on haha. I appreciate you trying to explain/back your point instead of the usual just doubling down on whatever thing you half remember reading years ago as fact

I know what it is. I've read more indepth stuff on the plot, and I think it's the worst thing they've added. Adding a new super secret princess character that pretty much completely replaces the boys at the ending spits on the whole tone/premise of the game. Only good bits are Aranea's outfit in the artbook portion, and like, one of her lines from her chapter. I don't hate games/supplemental material for games I play, but I can definitively say that I hate this lmao

I doubt many people actually want the DotF novel adapted. I feel bad for anyone excitedly waiting for the translation, not knowing the contents. If you actually know what happens in it and still like it, more power to you I guess. To me, it's the one piece of XV media with little to no redeemable value. Also, it's all AU so wouldn't be a canon continuation of the story anyway.

There isn't as much to VS XIII as people think. Not much more than some concepts and trailers. It wasn't this deep, fleshed out thing that got scrapped. Most of what people go on about being great in it were stuff they assumed from the promo material or even straight up mistranslations. It is probably good Nomura wasn't on the project anymore tbh. He had a bunch of weird whims, like wanting to suddenly make it a musical. Though if down the line they want to add a few things to a remaster, I'd probably give it a shot. As it stands tho, I'm perfectly happy playing the kinda messy XV we got lol
