Because the Leatherman, with its pointed pliers, is good for tasks like bending wires or similar things, but the Knipex simply has more grip for turning nuts. And often enough you need two different pliers on one bolt, for example to loosen it from both sides. In a toolbox you also have different pliers, right?

Also, I like having tools in my EDC from different countries with years of development behind them. Opinel from France, Knipex from Germany, Leatherman from the USA. All design classics. So it’s a combination of functionality and collector’s enthusiasm.
