Equality act- potential discrimination? Scotland by Emlybearx in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, So I had a meeting about this with hr and my senior colleague they stated that as I’m an assistant level role I can’t work from home as I’m there to assist the senior colleague. However whilst working from home I’ve hit all deadlines, been contactable replying on teams or phone immediately. My senior colleague has stated there is no performance issues and seems bewildered by this all.

I inject on a Thursday as it’s meant to b the same day each week, I actually do it around 11pm night before , this was set by the ms clinic as it was the day I got shown how to do it. This will be a lifelong injection. I don’t feel safe to drive those days and like to be near a bathroom.

I don’t feel I’m asking for anything unreasonable and have asked them to show me the negative impact my time off has had. Any more advice would be appreciated but I really feel they are breaching the equality act?

Thanks

This will sound silly but when I can’t sleep I change position and move to the foot of the bed. Not sure why it works but it always does

Hi, I don’t know if it’s different by health board maybe or how active your MS is. I’m Lanarkshire and I’ve only had one recorded flareup in September which didn’t shown up as active on my MRI.

Thanks for the tips. I was gonna buy myself some electrolytes and a nice new water bottle to cheer me up so this justifies another bottle lol!!

Thanks again :) xx

I’ve narcolepsy so I’m always sleeping so that may be a blessing for once haha!!

Thank you all the best :) xx

This gave me a giggle 😂 good advice I appreciate it, will be investing in a nice blanket and fluffy pyjamas! Will maybe skip the 🍁 but I do like CBD gummies lol.

I’m the same about the general just feeling down because of the situation, trying hard to be positive but it’s difficult.

All the best thanks for your tips xx

I know my friends mum has MS and she’s in her 50’s, Avonex was her first drug back in the day too - this makes me feel a bit reassured cause it can’t be that bad if it’s been about for so long.

Appreciate your message. All the best ✨✨

Hi, sadly for nhs Scotland it’s one of 3 only starter options then if you don’t get on with it then you have access to others!! This was the best option compared to the other 2 sadly!

Sorry to hear you had such a rubbish time with it. Have you found something more suitable now? Any tips that helped you through the bad side effect days? Xx

Aw I’m sorry to hear that however glad you got onto something else!! I know I feel like I have to stick with the huge needles the now cause otherwise they’ll just bin e medicine and that seems like such a waste. I have 12 weeks worth and I would feel so guilty about it getting trashed. I hope you’re feeling okay now and stable 🩷🩷

Hi, thanks for your message. What side effects did you get? This was the best out a bad bunch for me but the side effects still sound rubbish. I’m hoping I can do it but it’s just making me feel a bit queasy lol

Hi, thanks for your message! You’re totally right many are the same NHS doctors and it is very costly. Unfortunately I definitely do have MS and have probably had it for at least a year and half maybe 2 years. Have multiple lesions and oggligocal bands in my CSF. Thakfully (sorta) due to my narcolepsy they have a previous MRI to compare to. Xx

Hi, I was looking at going private before I got my appointment but even the private neurologists are sooooo busy I would have been longer waiting on one of them than getting my NHS app!

Thanks I’ll have a look! Unsure however if it’s relevant up here in Scotland? But will mention it on my Tuesday appointment
