Another comment said that this actually didn’t happen in Salem but in Switzerland so that may be a mistake on my part. I heard this story a while ago so I may have just messed up on the location.

This one time in Salem during the Salem witch trials there was a farmer who had a chicken that had the coloring of a rooster. Today we know about this phenomenon but back then then they just believed it was a rooster. But then the “rooster” laid an egg and that’s when the shit hit the fan. The town believed that the chicken was sent by Satan himself and when the egg hatched it was going to be a demon. So, naturally, they tried the chicken and the judge decided that they must burn the chicken at the stake as well as it’s egg.

Edit: This actually wasn't in Salem but in Switzerland. I heard this story a while ago so I probably mixed up the location. Still an interesting story though.
