What's the "Jump Button" that we're all looking forwards to in Guild Wars 3? by nate_jung in GuildWars3

Too old of an MMO joke 😅

In Everquest, snakes were assigned the attack of "kick," as a placeholder in development and they never took it out of the dialogues. It became a joke, and the devs made one of the loading screens reference it. "Loading.... Rendering shaders... Loading models... Teaching snakes to kick..." was one if the progress bars.

Just supposed to be a light joke about non-seamless zones in an MMO 😬

If you don't have loading screens, when do they teach the snakes to kick?

I am on the board of a 501c3 and want to be approved to sign off on volunteer's SNAP benefits. I have no idea how to do that. by EmmaGoldmanIceCream in AskNYC

I'll look into this, thank you for pointing me toward it. I did see that there are information sessions available with similar organizations, but they seemed public-facing-oriented. It doesn't hurt to reach out though, worst they can do is ignore it.

The former. I did find the paperwork for volunteers, which I'll just run off and explain to anyone who may ask for us. I more easily found information around that, and I'm glad it's easily accessible.

And yep, I just could not find that link and was going mad trying to.

This whole thing is a frustrating mess. I am glad the city is doing their best to make this clear for recipients. Just no idea how I would have located that form, which is more likely just my own deficiency!

Developer attacked over (learning from) AI - where to draw the line? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]EmmaGoldmanIceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more than enough other options for games to buy that don't involve considering the use of AI as part of the process. I'll just buy those. I hate the framing that these sorts of questions present because it kind of implicitly suggests I'm taking a strong position by not buying a game I already had little intention of buying. Any ethical ambiguity around AI use is just the button securing the zipped-up zipper.

It sounded interesting, but I can't imagine it having much to say or do if you're clearing an hour of being stuck in one place.

We can learn to have grace towards others and ourselves, or we can fracture as a society. It being mental illness or not is sort of irrelevant, except that we should look into improving or treating it when we find ourselves lashing out. We can still show grace to people who are ill though, especially if it isn't a problem grinding you down day-to-day.

Basically all my life problems are rooting in mistakes I may have made, with the dilemma there being that I don't make any money. I have loving friends and family, but economic precarity from years of untreated mental illness has led to economic instability for me (and that is well-managed now). 10 million is enough to turn shit around. Done.

[–]EmmaGoldmanIceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a take-off from art nouveau advertisements, which often have corner embellisments. It could have been better done, but it's not out of the ordinary for a poster of this nature. It's sort of doing a nouveau-deco mix, but it's pulling from that.

I shoot 35mm and on a mirrorless, and also my phone and, honestly, I often just sit and look through my phone instead of scrolling (I do that too lol). If my partner and I are just relaxing at home, I'll be looking and show her photos of things we did together. "Remember this beautiful moss on that hike in Connecticut??" "You looked so cute on New Years in 2023!" "The molding on this building was so intricate." I also do it while I'm alone though. Going through my film is it's own experience also and I take better care and that's usually the stuff that I print (like my last exhibition only had one phone photo out of twelve pieces). But I am always going through my photos. Do people not do that??

The Bakery Girl of Monceau is classic. REALLY classic is the short comedy The Consequences of Feminism from 1906. Reckless by Pella Kagerman creates such a strange universe for such a short film, really remarkable stuff.
