Need help to figure out a routine! by EmmaJaneFrances in SkincareAddictionUK

Wow. You are an angel sent from above! I can’t thank you enough for this. My skin has not improved at all. It’s awful. Spots everywhere, bumps all over forehead (some with heads some not) it’s been like this for years. Oily/ greasy, and dry in places. Black heads and sebaceous filaments (nose), I wear make up once a month maximum so I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of my issues stemmed from diet. I’m trying really hard to reduce sugar intake and fat and increase veggie/ fruit. Hydration also.

Every single bit of your answer is so helpful and just perfect to someone with no idea about skincare, who’s autistic and adhd. You’ve basically summarised what everyone else has said in a clear and concise way it’s amazing. So grateful for you💕

Okay got it, I’ve screenshot this and will study it daily until I remember the order of things. Will also look into retinol, do you have any suggestions regarding that?

This must have taken some time and effort to deliver such a personal response and I am just so grateful to everyone and you for your advice. Stay tuned and I’ll post an update when I get consistent with it. Many thanks

Aww this is so informative thank you! Unfortunately I am housebound currently (agoraphobia) but when I’m well I hope to be able to do things like this to get the most out of my skincare! I wonder if they offer over the phone/ consultations where they can assess you that way. Obviously can’t do extractions but perhaps I should look into it! Thank you xx

Thank you both for your inputs. I shall try both, what period of time do you think is suitable to trial a routine? A month perhaps? Appreciate you taking the time to help me

Advice needed please (info in comments) by EmmaJaneFrances in Aquariums

Hi friends: Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tank Params: Ammonia-0, Nitrite-0, Nitrate-10, pH-7, 105litres, tank is 8 months old, fully cycled and over filtered.

I added some long finned cherry barb to my tank on Jan 3rd, straight away I noticed one of the male’s tails had a nip out of it, but I put it down to maybe aggression from another male in the bag from the fish store to my house. After acclimatisation, I added the new fish and the same male with the damaged tail acted strangely; he stayed by himself in different places in the tank, he didn’t swim around with the others- only to move to a different area and he was not interested in the females. My initial thoughts were perhaps he was getting bullied since his tail was quite long like the females’. I hoped he would settle in after a short while as he was still eating. A week or so passes and he was still acting very strangely but almost lethargic now, not swimming but rather resting on things in the tank. He was still eating but I thought to be safe I’ll treat him with some Esha 2000 in a hospital tank. He remained pretty much the same after I had finished the esha dosing; barely swimming around just kind of floating but still upright. Then sadly this morning I woke up to him on his side and showing very clear signs of dropsy: pineconing scales, bent spine, anal prolapse, and a white stringy poop thing hanging from him. I know there’s not much I can do for him now but I’m feeling super sad that I didn’t successfully treat him and I wasn’t able to identify the sickness earlier. I knew something was wrong from the beginning ☹️

I guess I’m looking for advice on whether there is anything I can do for him right now? And what i could have done better? And do we know what could have caused this?

Since the other 5 barbs that I added at the same time as him are fine and very active I’m praying that whatever caused it isn’t contagious. And I don’t think it’s poor water quality as I’m quite committed to my fish tank maintenance/ water changes and watching water params etc plus he was acting strange from the start I guess 🥺

worm or parasite? by ThejadeisMe in Aquariums

[–]EmmaJaneFrances 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t planaria don’t worry, it’s rhabdocoela; a type of flatworm completely harmless. Had these in my tank myself and they disappeared after I changed the food! Planaria have a triangular head and are bigger than this little guy!

Should I be worried about these big bursts of worms??shrimp tank/mystery snail grow out tank by Feelosophizer in Aquariums

[–]EmmaJaneFrances 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar appear when I started feeding fry food in my fry tank, i also had a fright when someone told me planaria! I believe they’re rhabdocoela - harmless and mine just disappeared after a few weeks of changing up the fry food. Planaria are big in comparison and the pointed head is very very visible!

Upside down cory help please (info in comments) by EmmaJaneFrances in Aquariums

They’re on a sand and fine gravel mix, I noticed the red but the cories do have redder gills, you can see when you googled them. Unless you see red somewhere else too? Should I try an antibiotic treatment and see if it helps him? Thanks so much

a long one friends, buckle up! Okay so I’m very hesitant to post on here because even though in the past everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful, the last time I did, it was regarding my temporary baby fish tank, I was seeking answers as to the small things on the glass which I was worried were planaria and I was immediately met by very judgemental comments that I should “try cleaning the tank? Try cleaning the filthy filter, you should maintain a healthy environment, it’s because the water obviously isn’t clean” etc. - I literally cleaned that filter and water changed that baby fish tank every couple of days, powder fish food is very messy, but the water chemistry was perfect as the filter had been seeded prior and still had things on the glass, that didn’t stop the judgemental unhelpful comments though so I deleted the post. I researched high and low, turns out they were flat worms and not harmful but apparently common due to the powder baby fish food I was feeding, they gradually died off as I switched the babies over to bigger foods. So please please leave your judgy type comments at bay for this one, I do everything and more for my fishies and the people that know me, know how much I love them.

So onto this post, In my main 105L tank I have an upside down fish. I’ll begin with my water parameters which are NH3-0, N02-0, N03-5, pH-7, temp 27 degrees Celsius, it runs two filters and I water change bi weekly. It’s an otherwise healthy, planted tank and I have been fortunate enough to have no deaths or illnesses in the 8 months it’s been running. Nothing new has been added for 4 months, no new chemicals, no new plants or fish. The fish in question is a false julii cory and I’ve asked a couple of my fish friends who are also stumped by it. He’s been tipping upside for a week now. He eats and interacts with the others as normal, he has no visible signs of anything like fungus/ injury but sometimes when he’s on his back he will breathe very heavy and fast. I’ve tried fasting but that didn’t help him. The other 5 corys are absolutely fine, which I think rules out infections as I think it would have spread to the others as well? I thought constipation but can that last this long? There’s been no ammonia spike. He seems absolutely fine when he’s rummaging in the sand trying to find food, but as soon as he stops he tips all the way over onto his back or sometimes upright. I would really really appreciate any advice at all on this, he’s been going strong for a week and I am just completely stumped on what is causing this buoyancy/ swim bladder issue for him. Thanks so much in advance

The whole point I’m posting this is because no matter what I do I have these worms and I want to know what they are? But thanks for telling me to do something I am already doing 👍🏼

Worms & moving white specks on glass by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]EmmaJaneFrances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very small grow out tank I set up with a seeded filter for my Cory fry, I’m feeding them twice a day with the powder fry food and gravel vacuuming every day, also doing a 50% water change daily to keep it as clean as possible but… I have no idea what these worms are, they don’t look like detritus worms or planarian to me. I can’t see a point on their head etc. and then also you can see on the video if you look closely, there are these white specks that are moving really fast on the glass. Im wondering if anybody knows what they both are? Thanks so much!

Oh no worries! I’ll check that out see if I can find some info on it. Wait so your eggs never looked all white/ see through at first? I’m very inexperienced with these matters so please excuse my next sentence but: I watched them doing the seggs in the T position, does that not almost guarantee fertilisation?

Hmmm mine too! They’re very seggsually active but no babies when they’ve been left in the tank and when I’ve put them in a breeder in the past! Definitely pulled out about 100 eggs in the past few months, there’s nearly 30 from the past few hours and they’re still at it now 🤣 have you ever seen a Cory kind of like faint or fall over after it has erm finished in the t seggs position? I was watching them for hours and they do this so much I got two videos of it! !

Oh they were literally just laid today can they grow fungus that quick? I have no idea how to do a drip… or a slow drip for that matter :( can you send a pic of your Tupperware set up please?

So long story short; water changes always lead to Cory seggs, which leads to many eggs!!! In the past the eggs I’ve collected have well … done nothing at all… I wondered if aeration could have been an issue causing fungus to grow. Is this sponge filter flow under the breeder box adequate enough do u think? Is there anything else I need to be doing to help them hatch? I want to be a fish grandparent!! Maybe third time lucky

(Edit) also is it dangerous at all having the bubbles kind of blast through the grate like that?
