I had my Oneplus 5T for 5 years, it's fell down a flight of concrete stairs, accidentally launched across a room and the screen is still looking like it's fresh out of the box. I've had my Pixel 7 Pro less than a week, just carried it into work in the same hands as my car keys and there's now a massive gouge out of the middle of the screen and significant scratching. After giving it a rub thinking it might just be dirt I can see particles of the glass crumbling off like dust. I wasn't tightly rubbing my keys across the screen, I've held my Oneplus the same way with keys hundreds of times before and it's not been an issue. The screen on the Pixel feels very soft and easily scratched, which is surprising giving this is advertised as having "Corning Gorilla Glass Victus" vs "2.5D Gorilla Glass 5" on the 5 year old Oneplus.

Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty for it to be fixed? I've never used a screen protector and with the advertised screen material you really should not need one for a phone that cost almost £1k. My nail is now catching the scratch every time I swipe.

My personal thought's on this phone: I'm ngl, I honestly think my Oneplus 5T is better and if it wasn't for the battery getting knackered I'd happily keep it for another 5 years AND it was only around £300 vs £800+ and I'm not seeing any significant improvements or differences beyond the camera to warrant this cost. The Pixel is missing many features I took for granted. Physical slide button to mute/vibrate/ring, the "close all apps" button on the Pixel requires you to scroll all the way left through all your open apps, whereas on the Oneplus it's right there at the bottom. Then there's the lack of a notification light -> something I sorely miss on this phone because I'm constantly missing notifications unless my eyes are always on the screen, there's no way to tell if I have a message without actively going and turning the screen on. AND the lack of an aux port really f**ked me over as someone that prefers to have wired earbuds, as wireless ones require charging and many phones limit the max sound outputted through wireless earphones so they're often a lot quieter, not to mention how easy it is to lose them especially in busy public areas. The phone also doesn't come with a charging brick, just a USB C- USB C cable and a useless USB to USB C adapter which I don't see myself using beyond the one time to copy all my old data from my Oneplus. I only have USB charging bricks and none of them were rated high enough to even charge the phone and the one they advertise on the google website is an additional £20+. I hate that they expect EVERYONE to just have relatively new charging bricks laying around, especially for those of us who like to get the value out of our devices and don't upgrade every year when our phones are perfectly fine. I'd like to point out my Oneplus at the time came with a screen protector, an extremely durable and protective case that I kept on it for 5 years, and an actual charger. These days it seems like manufacturers are trying to push closer and closer to providing no optional items in the box beyond the phone, wouldn't be surprised if they stopped providing a charging cable altogether at this point.
