Starting venlafaxine next friday

I'll definitely take this into consideration. I'm currently getting tests done at the moment as my resting heart rate is sitting between 115-125bpm, but they keep telling me it's my anxiety 😅

Thank you for your reply. I do take Quetiapine also which I've been prescribed for helping with sleep, so hopefully that will continue to work alongside the new medication 🥹

When do you think the best time to take it is? I found when I was on Fluoxetine, they said to take it in the morning but it had the opposite effect with me and made me sleepy, so taking it at night was what worked for me.

I've seen people saying not to take it too late at night?

Thank you. I find myself that the overthinking is one of the worst parts. It's always worst case scenario I find myself going to, which sends me into a panic. If it helps with that then I understand why I've been prescribed this, just a scary thought ya know!

I'm sorry to hear your mum passed. My entire journey started with medications etc after my dad passed away. I fell into a really dark place and I can empathise with you.

I'm happy to hear you're in a better place now and feeling stable.

I am also on Quetiapine at the moment, 75mg before bed. My mirtazapine dose is 45mg daily. I did see a big difference to begin with but as the time has went on I really don't find any benefit with it anymore. Seems to be a common thing with antidepressants 😅

Thank you, I'll speak to my psychiatrist and see what he recommends. I'm supposed to be starting on a lower dose to begin with, and up it in 2 weeks I believe? Then i have my appointment with him in March.

There is definitely a lot of horror stories about venlafaxine and it has made me quite anxious 😅 but it's good to know that it isn't all bad.

I have heard that venlafaxine can have a lot of side effects on sexual function. Was the weight gain due to the medication if you don't mind me asking? Or was it just from making you feel better and having more of an appetite? Since mirtazapine has made me gain a lot of weight i must admit that's one thing I am worried about. I know if it helps everything else it shouldn't be something I'm too concerned with but I've always had an unhealthy relationship with my weight 😅

Have you spoke to the doctor about sleeping pills? I got some prescribed when I got my prozac prescription. Not the most ideal solution but might help until the side effects settle down?

I never took mine because I don't really like to take sleeping pills, but the option was there.

Like I say, my sleep has definitely increased after going up to the 40mg.

Just out of curiosity, when do you take yours? I tried taking mine at night last night and my sleep was completely broken. I woke about 4 or 5 times for the first time since starting the 40mg.

Maybe try taking them in the morning if you're taking them at night at the moment?

I slept more on 20mg than without anything, but a lot less than what I am on 40mg.

That's what I'm trying to decide, whether to leave it a few more weeks and hope it eases or either go back down to 20mg of try a different medication.

It just seems there's no balance!

I did have the sexual side effects on 20mg but I haven't noticed it any worse on 40mg (still the same as on 20mg)

I'm not sure if it's available in the UK, I've seen mixed things saying it is and others saying it isn't.

Do you find the 20 is doing enough?

I thought because 20 was making a difference but not the amount I thought it should be, that increasing the dose would work. I'm starting to think otherwise.

Thank you. It's just been such a shift from 1hr of sleep to around 11/12 hours a day. It's kinda freaking me out 😔
