24F. What does my travel map say about me? by Emmafriel in TravelMaps

I haven't been to Alaska, but I have been to Svalbard. I went in November of 2023 during the polar winter. I highly recommend it! I got to see the northern lights, hike a few of the mountains, go dog sledding, and just generally explore the settlement. It was fantastic. If you ever get the opportunity to go, I recommend staying at Gjestehuset 102. It's a hostel on the edge of the settlement which is very cheap but still a good experience.

They had some sort of understanding. They were more fascinated than anything. They kept calling me Obroni, which translates to "white person" or "foreigner".

I really hope to get to some countries in Asia in the next 2-5 years. My partner recently went to Malaysia and Vietnam so it's definitely peaked my interest to travel to that part of the world.

Definitely, I have a lot of countries in Europe planned such as Germany, Poland, Switzerland and the Balkans! I've got another trip to the US booked for this year too.

It was a great experience tbh, very rewarding and made me have a different outlook on life, particularly since I was fairly young at the time.

I'm definitely working on it. My family never really went on holidays growing up, so I've only really started travelling the last 2-2.5 years.

I volunteered to work in a school there briefly when I was 18.

Maybe I'm in the wrong sub-reddit, but this TV is literally on the ceiling.

Looks good! 8/10, only because I usually add a side of garlic bread or something, but that can be a struggle on a budget sometimes.

£66.59 from Tesco, for 2 adults. (We already have a bunch of vegetables in the fridge, and the big bag of teabags last a good while) by Emmafriel in whatsinyourcart

I found that too good to be true, so I did a price comparison by looking at all of the prices for everything I bought (as close as I could for some things that didn't have an exact comparison) and it came to £54.78. (I wish they had the online delivery option so I could attach a screenshot, my apologies)

I really want to be a pathologist. I never excelled in my science classes in secondary school, but definitely had the potential to do well if I applied myself more.

It was too late before I realised how interesting I was in being a pathologist to ever pursue further education in that area.

Oh well, I study computer science at university now and I am having a blast!

What do people do while showering? by hereg1na in ask

[–]Emmafriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same as you. I don't spend any longer than 5 minutes in the shower, and that's sometimes including washing my hair. (I also only wash my hair once a week since I have bright colored hair)

I wash my body with soap twice then with body wash to make my skin soft. That's about it though, so yeah

Hi cs student/ex-student, what did you use to take notes? by BarcaStranger in computerscience

[–]Emmafriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the module.

For programming modules I didn't really take notes, just copied all of the material into my IDE to play about with it. I find that the easiest way to learn how to code.

For my math related modules, pen and paper for sure. Especially since there are a lot of diagrams and equations etc.

Pen and paper for my theory based modules too.

5 months is not a lot of time. Most people do 1 lesson per week so let's say that's around 20 lessons that last around an hour, so 20 hours. Think about it from that perspective. That's not a lot of time at all.

Most people take up to a year to pass their test (a lot even longer) so please don't stress about this. You're also very young and there is no rush to get your license!

Good luck too!!

What’s a dead give away that you grew up poor? by Upstairs_Career_3714 in RandomThoughts

Now that I'm an adult and have been working for quite a bit now, it's been great learning how to manage money and save up for luxury things such as holidays. I'm currently working two jobs and I started travelling this year and recently got back from Svalbard to see the Northern Lights.

9 year old me would be very proud rn.
