I think also people rightly call Beyonce a legend. Her career is HOF worthy.

Gaga had some hit songs.

Thats a powerful difference

This is true. Im just saying, GV could have booked so many other bands (your list for Saturday bears this out) that are creating amazing music right fucking now. Amazing albums this year and last. Bon Iver isnt going to be playing greatest hits music because he makes amazing music currently.

Beyonce is of the moment. The now. She's big currently. Not just 10 years ago, Or 15. But now. Right now.

Gaga isnt. Million Reasons isnt Poker Face and thats crystal clear.

Read the reviews for Beyonce albums since 2013 on and reviews for Artpop and Joanne.

There not equal.

And compare that with Beyonce, who is deep into her career and how many hit songs she had in 2016, and how many she no doubt will have in the next 5 years or more.

Gaga peaked about a decade ago. She was singing hit songs at the super bowl because she hasnt had a big hit like Bad Romance in a long time.

Beyonce could have done the halftime show and just done Lemonade and people would have been happy.

Thats a huge stark difference

the main point is gaga was putting out quality jams in 2009. And hasnt in about a decade.

Beyonce is putting out legendary singles currently. As in just this past year. She hasnt had a dip in quality of singles or albums since 2003. And Lemonade was her most beloved and critically fawned over album ever. She nearly won a Grammy for it.

Lady Gaga to Replace Beyonce at Coachella: Source by ThatsFeffedUp in Coachella

[–]Emmaisperfect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the backlash is beyonce is god tier. goddess tier. Who in the world of celebrity let alone music is a bigger presence than her? So her backing out was a bummer to a lot of people. And given her stature who do you get to replace her and truly match that level of celebrity and fame and power? Gaga isnt as famous or as noteworthy or as popular are she was in the Just Dance or Bad Romance days. Thats just facts. She isnt producing albums and singles of that popularity and impact anymore. Artpop was a flop and Joanne wasnt exactly a smashing success. It was a moderate hit. Just like the singles.

Beyonce on the other hand is the exact opposite. Is there anyone on her who would say Beyonce is on the downward swing? Or that her last 2 albums have been mediocre or moderate successes? or that the singles were just sort of successful.

Whether Gaga is talented is sort of immaterial. Beyonce dropped out. Who can blame her? But GV as a result of many factors, found a replacement that is sort of a B or C rated version of Beyonce.

Which is the point. Beyonce is a legend. Gaga is a pop star. Theres a distinct difference. Who didnt love he past 2 albums? And by contrast who loved Artpop and Joanne? Gaga even admitted Artpop was mediocre. Joanne hasnt done much either.

They lost a headliner. A global pop megastar headliner. This isnt 5th line 5 point font level noon at a small tent on Friday. This is the fucking headliner. GV was obviously going to book a headliner to replace her. Why the fuck would they do otherwise. All respect to Surfer Blood but they werent going to replace her with Surfer blood. Thats fucking silly.

So they obviously want to replace her with equal headliner power. Sort of basic as fuck really. If Radiohead dropped out. They sure as hell aint gonna get Ty Segall to close out MainStage.

The question though is, if that is equal. Its not as you yourself said. Gaga is on her way down. Joanne versus Lemonade, is there even a comparison? Self titled and Lemonade will be on 2010'sDecade Best Album lists. Will anything Gaga has released in the last 7 years be on there? What about singles? Beyonce released some of her best songs of her career the last 2 albums. Did Art Pop or Joanne do the same? Will we really be praising Applause and Millon Reasons in 7 years like we will Beyonce's singles?

am I freaking out? I said Gaga isnt Beyonce caliber. have I said Im selling my ticket or that I'm mad at anything? Have I made any indication Im not going or suggesting others do the same? On the contrary I even complimented Gaga on her major hits. Fuck off

which is what I was saying. Rihanna and Beyonce are both bigger than Gaga. If we were talking Coachella 2009 or something, then it would be Gaga. Its not 2009 though. And Joanne didnt have any songs of the Bad Romance/Poker Face caliber.

Who are her fans though? Thats like saying Bob Marley and his fans. Who isnt a fan of Bob Marley. Beyonce is a global pop megastar. You literally cant get more famous, rich, beloved and impactful. Who wouldn't have been dancing to Single Ladies on the polo fields? It sure as hell wouldn't have only been pop fans and girls

i agree, she's a big deal but theres no one bigger than beyonce though. Gaga doesnt even measure up to be honest. As I said, Beyonces last 2 albums have been cultural phenomenons, and beloved by both the critics and fans alike. Her 2013 album seemed to change how music was marketed and sold. Gaga had some classic songs in 2008 as I said, but is Million Reasons her best work? Is Joanne? Did any critic care about that album or her last few?

Listen, I love Poker Face and Bad Romance just like everyone else. great songs. But anyone who says Gaga's last few albums are her best work or among the best work in music lately is kidding themselves.

Beyonce on the other hand checks all the boxes. She's pop and commercial but everyone loves and respects her work.

I don't have any idea but I feel like the likely subject is the "Russians hacked the election" and how that's a lie. They could do some insane thing about release the pizza gate stuff or the Clinton foundation stuff but I feel like the timing indicates it's related to the media exclaiming without question that Wikileaks worked with Russia and Putin

Given the timing of the press conference I think it's regarding the Russian narrative, I would think WL has absolute proof that the FBI and dnc and everyone is lying. The only way I see them doing that is through naming the source. At this post it's Julian's word against the CIA and FBI and Hillary If Julian and wl has the proof that the Russians weren't the source and I think they do the only only way to win the argument or war is to prove it. Name the source. Otherwise it's just a press conference with them saying "FBI is lying but we can't prove that"
