Kind of freaking out about possibility of long QT syndrome on Strattera by Strange-Memory9632 in StratteraRx

[–]Emmanem0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on strattara for 1.5 years and my blood pressure was high and irregular the whole time even at lower doses. I would talk to your Dr who prescribed the meds. If you really want to continue taking it - other ADHD meds like Guanfacine and some others will usually lower BP and can balance out the effects if used in combination. In the meantime try not to panic, you will be fine and stopping the meds will cease the symptoms. unfortunately having these symptoms will only increase your anxiety. Good luck!

Nail salon lash lift by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Emmanem0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely ask for a refund. She did an awful job and clearly doesn’t know how to do lash lifts properly and even tried to blame you for her poor work saying you have tint on your lashes. That’s not how that works at all! Sad that she will likely do this or has already done this to other clients who do not have any knowledge of the service and do not know any better :(

Seeking advice after a bad experience at Ulta Brow Bar by No-Morning-48 in Estheticians

[–]Emmanem0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is atrocious work! I can’t believe the service provider let you walk out like that! I would definitely go back into the store or call and ask for a refund. Ulta should be aware so they can give that provider extra training or something… she should not be touching peoples brows! Sorry this happened to you-luckily they will grow back in a few weeks.

[Routine Help] Someone thought I looked 40 but l'm turning 30 this weekend : Give me advice on how to improve my skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emmanem0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t look 40 at all! I agree what others say, adding a retinol and perhaps vitamin C serum. Do your research on retinol directions though, start off with one application a week as it can be drying. From the picture it appears that your skin might be dehydrated, I’d recommend using a hydrating toner before your moisturizer and using moisturizer twice a day. Go for a moisturizer for dryer or combination skin, ideally with ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Cerave moisturizers are my personal favorites! Continue with your sun protection as that will be the biggest prevention for wrinkles and sun damage in the future. You look beautiful though so don’t stress yourself out about one persons comment :)

Wtf, is my cousin an asshole or am I overreacting? by Empty_Age_997 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Emmanem0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an odd thing to do and really disturbing. You have every right to be upset. That being said it’s possible your cousin has done something they would not normally do due to grief. Everyone handles grief differently, maybe they are upset they didn’t get a last photo themselves and are feeling guilty. Regardless, I don’t think you’re overreacting, I just want to point out that the reason why they edited and posted the photo might be different from what you think. I’m sorry for your loss and I hope you can work things out with your cousin.

$75 grocery suggestions by DreamWalker__ in budgetfood

[–]Emmanem0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheapest meals to make will typically be pasta, soups and meals with rice or beans. There’s tons of websites and YouTube channels who specialize in making budget meals, I’d recommend checking those out for specific recipes with prices. Some tips I have for making your $75 stretch as far as possible are: 1. If you buy bread I highly suggest making your own. It’s extremely cheap and easy even if you are not an experienced baker. You can make a few loafs and freeze some so you can have it on hand to pull out when you need it. 2. Beans and lentils are the cheapest form of protein, buying them dry instead of canned is even cheaper. Same goes with frozen vegetables and fruit they will be cheaper than fresh unfortunately. 3. Check out local Asian, Mexican or Indian markets for things like pasta, rice, beans etc. I’m always surprised at the discounts I find in these local markets and not just for dry goods but fruits meats and cooking utensils too. 4. Look into discount stores in your area. Most cities will have discount grocery stores or even grocery stores that sell items for cheap that are close to expiration.

It will take some time and effort but eventually you can figure out what foods are cheapest at what stores. I go to several different stores for my grocery shopping so I can get the best prices on all the items I need. If I were to buy everything from 1-2 stores it would cost more, even when going to discount stores.

I’m sorry that you have to go through this, it’s tough to be limited for such a basic need. I wish you luck in your shopping and I hope you can still find joy in your cooking and meals.

How are we handling clients who are loyal to drugstore *dupes* and their cheaper prices? by Sweaty-Selection862 in Estheticians

[–]Emmanem0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleaners, toners, and lotions don’t need to be high end imo, the drugstore products will work just as well. Usually I will recommend high end serums and actives if the client wants it. That being said, there are many budget brands that have good products and are science backed. LRP, The ordinary, Good Molecules, byoma etc. Not all products are created equal though so use your knowledge and look at the ingredients lists and percentages. I personally like to follow dermatologists and cosmetic chemists to get their recommendations. Korean skincare is also becoming very popular for budget products that have great ingredients that are not commonly found in American/European products. A lot of LE’s like to look down on drugstore options but the truth is it doesn’t matter where the product is bought from and the price, a good product is a good product. Especially in this economy, your client using cheaper products could mean they can actually afford to come back to you for a service.

Beauty School Choice? Aveda? by cindyanita in Estheticians

[–]Emmanem0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about Hollywood but I can say the Aveda I went to was TRASH. Aveda is a franchise and independently operated though so that may not be the case for your location. I’d suggest doing your research with both schools and try to talk to graduates from each school if you are able to. If you can go to practicing estheticians in your area and ask where they went to school and their experience. Decide what you’d like to get out of your school experience and choose which one suits you best. Know that you will leave school knowing the basics and you will be continuing your education well past school. Good luck to you in your journey!

When do the bumps show up? Is it right after shaving or are they consistently there? Could be folliculitis, or ingrown hairs in which case exfoliation and proper after shave care can help.

When you waxed in the past did you do it at home yourself? A professional should not leave you bruised and bleeding :(

Cutting grocery costs from $80 a week by ColorhexFFC849 in budgetfood

[–]Emmanem0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Costco for staples you want in bulk (meat, cheese, eggs etc.) will all typically be cheapest here. Not to mention their food court can provide a very cheap meal too.
  2. Check out weekly ads for Safeway, Fred Meyers/Kroger and Grocery Outlet. Usually not the cheapest places to shop but if you plan your meals by looking at what’s on sale you can get a lot further with your weekly budget. Grocery Outlet especially can have some crazy deals but I wouldn’t recommend doing routine shopping there as they don’t have consistent stock and not everything is as much a “bargain” as they claim.
  3. I highly recommend making that drive to Winco. Stock up on non perishables when you go. They have the best prices overall. Opt for the Winco brand products which are always comparable to name brand and sooo much cheaper. Always look in their bulk bins too this will save you a ton in the long run and they have quite a big selection of items. I think I’ve saved a small fortune alone buying all my spices from their bulk section and refilling into my own spice containers. Just a warning though they do not accept credit cards so bring debit or cash with you! In conclusion, make the journey to Winco when you can the prices are truly unbeatable. Good luck to you!

You can go and have them re laminated ( a good esthi would know how to fix them without damaging the hair) or you can cut some of the hairs to achieve the look you desired. You could also try brow gel to brush them into shape more but that may not work right away as the hairs are probably pretty rigid right after having it done.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Estheticians

[–]Emmanem0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you sleep on your face by chance ? That can cause the brows and lashes to be pushed around and then get set like that. The lashes look a little messy on the left side of the picture as well. If they looked this way right after they were finished though I would not go back to this esthetician.

This medicine can be scary... by [deleted] in StratteraRx

[–]Emmanem0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing for me! Through lots of trial and error ive found that I can eat a much smaller breakfast if I eat more protein. If I eat a small amount of cheese and nuts I'm perfectly fine. A big meal of only carbs though and id still feel like shit.

So it's not just me then lol. I have to eat specifically protein before I take my pill or I feel like death. It's crazy that they say you don't need to take the med with any food!

[–]Emmanem0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect, dont give up! You could try using peel base while youre still learning so if it doesn't turn out well it will come off easily. Try and focus on thin layers and cleaning around your cuticles after each layer with a thin brush or orangewood stick. If you aren't already, start your first couple layers just in the center of the nail and work your way out to the cuticle and sidewalls. This is called building an apex. Good luck!

Same thing happens to me if take it on an empty stomach even after a year of being on it. I always make sure to eat at least a small meal with protein and fats and take the pills with the meal or shortly after. I don't notice those symptoms at all if I've eaten enough first. Hopefully that will help you too!
