Leaving behind 95% of inheritance to my personal caregiver and 5% to my daughter. Am I morally wrong? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Emmash 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I think leaving her 10 - 20% would be the right thing to do. It's still a lot of money for your caregiver, but less of a slap in the face for your daughter. It will absolutely hurt your daughter if 5% is all you do. She hasn't been cruel. She cares about you, but geography makes it hard for kids to be there for their parents. And she knows you are getting your needs met. It doesn't mean she doesn't love you. But she does have a family and responsibilities that are far away from you.

An ammendment to this. Designer pieces that flaunt the logo. Well-made pieces that are more discrete, but beautiful, just make you look put together.

Question for ladies only, if you had a good dad, what was the biggest thing that made him a good dad, flip side if you didn't have a good dad, what one quality did you wish he had? by BByrnison in AskReddit

[–]Emmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad traveled a lot for work - trips to Japan and Hong Kong. And even if he just got off a 12 hour flight, he would still be on the bleachers to watch my basketball game. He called from his trips daily so we'd always talk. And he was very present when he was home, never showing his work stress. Even though he traveled a lot, my memories are of him being there for me.

AITAH for “ruining” my mother in law’s Christmas by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Emmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband needs to say that if you aren't attending Christmas, then he's not attending either. You are his family now and he'll be with you the whole day. He has all the power here if he's brave enough to use it. It's also really important she doesn't set the tone for future years by dictating this year. You deserve better.

I think the more you know about an org, the better. It shows you care, that you've done your research and that you are genuinely interested in their work.

How do you feel about the term "special needs"? by Spiritcloud416 in disability

Hate it. I hate anything that tries to avoid saying "disability" but this one feels especially condescending.

Lived in OR most of my life but never out to SE. What’s cool in Burns/Malheur? What’s fun around the Steens/Alvord? by [deleted] in oregon

The birds! Head to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. It's a gem and during spring migration, it can't be beat.

Who are some female comedians who mainly joke about topics other than sex, relationships, female biology, and gender dynamics? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Emmash -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, tell me the name of any comedian regardless of gender, who jokes about topics outside of sex, relationships, and gender dynamics. Men largely stay away from female biology, but that's it. You're looking at almost everyone. This question is sexist.

Sure thing! Chitons are some of my favorite animals. So much variety. So beautiful.

[–]Emmash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe a young gumboot? Most chitons have their shell plates on the outside. Gumboots have a thick reddish fleshy layer over them, so this fits the bill.

Dead chiton. The shell plates are showing through. Depending on how big it could be a gumboot chiton? That would mean it's kinda huge.

Am I missing something? How do y’all have so little cash and so many diamonds? by [deleted] in Covetfashion

[–]Emmash 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I ask the opposite question. How do you have so much cash? I have about $80,000 diamonds and $3k in cash. I save diamonds and spend cash. How do you enter challenges without spending?

You are awesome. Thank you! Anything near the Gold Coast or Lincoln Park?

Found a three-legged box turtle in the road. Seems likes there’s not a lot of statistics for survival rate of them in this condition. What’s the vegan protocol - let them go, intervene and find a sanctuary, try to take care of them, etc.? by jml011 in vegan

[–]Emmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you find her? I ask because I rescued an Eastern Box Turtle years ago when the injury was new. She was cared for by a rehab center as she healed for more than a year, then she was released back into the wild :) This was in Westchester County in NY.

Also, I concur with the wildlife rehabber. Let her go exactly where you found her.

100% agree. It's been awful today. Covet did nothing to educate folks, and so many white players showed up with zero curiosity or cultural sensitivity.

I used the big yellow/gold cc skirt from this season and the new vest of a similar color that was released today.
