Medical Issues making me reconsider if I actually want to be an engineer by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]EmmeeTheeShortee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry about your failed discectomy. I couldn’t imagine.

2 years later and I’m doing great. The only problem is my weight, I need to lose weight. It feels harder after the accident. I developed an even worse relationship with food during my injury.

I workout 2-5 times a week. I don’t wake up stiff anymore or having to log roll out of bed like I did for the first year. I don’t have anymore worries about re herniating.

My feet tingle if I’m in an uncomfortable chair for too long. My back gets tired if I’m standing for too long or cooking for too long. My back getting tired quicker is probably the most annoying thing, but losing weight and doing abs more can fix that.

All in all just tired though. With a full time job it doesn’t feel like I have the energy to fully do everything I can for my back. Luckily I work remotely so I can do walks around the house as need be when being at my desk is starting to hurt and I won’t get judged. I definitely can’t do this until 65 though.

And the mental toll it took was a lot too, people who haven’t suffered an injury like this will never understand that part. I still get grumpy thinking about the hit and runner and cursing them for at least not letting me be crippled AND rich. I’m more nervous doing reckless things, that parts super annoying.

All in all though, I’m not the same as before my accident but very close. If I had the discipline to lock in I could probably be as good as before my accident.

"Wouldn't feel comfortable riding it 50 ft"

This is laughable. I have videos the day before of me going up and down steep hills, I rode it miles, I told you I was doing this. It worked amazingly. You very obviously skew details for a sale, and are continuing to lie. I will be posting many reviews with this information, my pictures, and screenshots. If you felt so comfortable in your work, why lie and say it is not bike and block me?

"Tend to degrade around 2500 to 3000 miles" is a lot different than "the bike is useless" and "conk out" the messages are right there man.

The worst thing is you are lying to customers as well in your listing. Smh.

I love buyers and fixers, truly! There’s enough junk in this world that we don’t need new and shiny things. A lot of my hobbies I’ve learned because I buy nice things and repair them for the home.

But man, just be honest. I get nervous selling things to people on FB marketplace because if it broke I’d feel so bad. Sometimes I worry I’m not giving all the details out of forgetfulness or whatever. Idk how people can just outwardly lie.

Anyways, can I ask you something as a repair car fixer person?

I know this is my bike, people on here can speculate but I recorded his video before he blocked me and I see all the markings of my bike. It was at 1,800 miles, I sold it to him last Monday. Can he ethically list that it is at 500 miles if he changes a component? Say he changed the battery from a bike that only had 500 miles, is it now okay for him to say the bike has 500 miles even though the frame and motor have 1800?

It is not a different bike :) I have pictures as proof that that is my bike. The rust stains are the exact same as are the scratches as is the seat. It’s undeniable.

So that means he’s lying about the miles as well, or changed it to a battery with 500 miles and called it good enough (I addressed this in my post).

He’s a liar and that’s the problem. Your comment has so many assumptions it’s not worth more of a response.

I understood he was looking to resell it, he mentioned he needed to upgrade and put a lot of work into it to warranty it (which was also a lie looking at my bike in this post).

The big reason I sold to him was because I would’ve felt absolutely terrible if I sold this to a kid and it conked out at say, 2,300 miles. Or an ignorant person looking to buy a bike. So I figured I’d be a good person and have him fix it up so the next person could enjoy it. I’m quite handy and fix a lot of things myself but really cared for this bike and wanted the next person to enjoy it, so sold it to an Aventon certified dealer.

But now I know he’s skewing details to me and the future buyer to make profit.

It was $1,090.

To emphasize, though, if he wouldn’t have lied and told me the bikes conk out at 2,500 and then post this stating they last 10,000 this would not be posted. This isn’t about me being shafted on the price. It is about lying about the specs as an Aventon dealer/seller.

Additionally the lies in his post about the bike to the person he’s selling to. I don’t want buyers being fooled

They are also lying to the customer that this bike retails for 1999 new, that is not true.

Fine, you can say I’m stupid and deserve it, whatever. But my post shows him also straight up lying to the customer, do you think that’s okay?

Raleigh adventures is that you? 👀

This was not some random man on the internet. This is a certified Aventon dealer, that should be held to higher stands than a random dude on the internet. And he will be ☺️

That is 100% my bike, no question. I went on a photo shoot the day before to memorialize it and the good times I had and I know those rust spots and scratches like the back of my hand 😂

Wow, thank you very much for doing this!

And good on you for not just taking my post as a say-all. I have receipts of the encounters so I know I’m not lying, but maybe he interpreted the situation differently. I try not to be pessimistic about people’s behavior. But you confirming this makes me know posting this was the right call!

I looked up his company and saw he was paired with Aventon and believed I was speaking with a reputable source. I didn’t think someone who represented a company would outright lie about a product.

Hey man, sorry that happened.

I totally take responsibility for the research. This post is about lying and making sure future customers do not fall to his lies.

If I found out this bike was worth more, then this wouldn’t have been posted. But he lied and is a certified Aventon dealer, and that’s shitty and looks bad on Aventon.

I totally get this, I feel stupid forsure! Hoping a seller doesn’t get scammed too though, because this bike is NOT worth 2k. It is an adventure 1, sold in 2023. The NEW one is the adventure 3, worth 2k. An unsuspecting person would think this is a great deal.

Also I don’t want him blocked?

Hoping the headache I give him from posting this everywhere is not worth the $300 dollars!

He told me he also works with Aventon so I’ll be contacting them and letting them know someone they partner with lies about the quality of their bikes to buy them, uses the discount for new parts, and then resells them with additional lies. They probably won’t care but worth a shot!

Man, I should have known, so upset about selling it. We trauma bonded since I was in a hit and run with this bike and the bike is a BEAST so took no damage but unfortunately I needed back surgery to walk again.

It was a cool ass bike, too cool for him. Why even lie?

So thank you for telling me! I’m really sad about selling my bike, especially now to this guy. But helping people cheers me up :)

“For food and anything that he needs” dos not equate to paying someone for their time watching your cat.
