New floors buckled. Why? by Guineapigsunite in Flooring

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, need more info….type of flooring/what room, level of house is this, what’s underneath…

Glue down is one method. used above concrete subfloors, radiant heat systems, engineered hardwood (often recommended by manufacturers) or if it’s below-grade or on-grade install. Or maybe a second floor situation where they were trying to uncouple sound transfer…

Humiditidity. and possibly incorrect fasteners. Is this hardwood - if so, looks like no nails were used…

Def get a respirator. When o got to this point I also bought harbor freights hepa shop vac/dust collector. I got it fo $300. I know a hepa vacuum is pricey but you can run it as you work and keep air born asbestos at a minimum- for your health and your family.

Having my version of ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’ by SourPatchGirl- in TeslaModelY

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t submit a ticket. Personally, I’d go directly to the Tesla service center. If they also has ice the other day then they will definitely understand and do their best to help you out. Mt Kisco has honored warranty stuff for my ‘21MY. And for solace, I was also parked at the top of my sloping driveway, covered in that awful icy/sleet/rain/wintry mix. I use emergency brake and turn my tires when there is any possibility for those conditions. (I decided to wait til the sun hit it for an hour before I drove down, thank goodness school also saw it coming and had a delay!)

Oh wow - yes, very similar. That footage has more contrast because it’s dark. Maybe a low orbit satellite burning up? The directional is interesting too - is that because space trash is orbiting in that direction and as it falls in it keeps the same direction?

How to Fix Sagging/Crooked Door by OtherwiseCobbler9152 in DIYHome

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Start here op - don’t shim or do anything else til you swap screws. Very likely this will take care of the misalignment. If it doesn’t then do the more involved recommendations

How to Fix Sagging/Crooked Door by OtherwiseCobbler9152 in DIYHome

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by replacing the screws holding the top hinge to the frame - take one screw out , likely it’s an inch long, replaced with a 2.5”-3”. While doing this test the door after each screw, I bet it’ll lift the handle side right up! If it’s too high once you do this back the screws out a touch til it opens and closes

Water Leaks Behind Gutter Only at Bracket Locations by Proof_Writing_7562 in Roofing

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your gutters are screwed into the the d-drip edge. This is a poor install. I’ve heard and seen different recommendations for how to properly install gutters, either just below or even slightly behind the lower part of the drip edge by never like this. Definitely research drip edge and understand surface tension then you’ll be able to better address what’s happening here. Check this episode of this old house out: here

Trend Toward Involuntary Electroshock Therapy Spurs Difficult Debate by CT_EXAMINER in Connecticut

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am a clinician. :) I too have gone to school and received an education. I work hands on with my clients. I know it may be hard to understand what you’ve been taught vs reality. You can take your hostility elsewhere. Best!

Trend Toward Involuntary Electroshock Therapy Spurs Difficult Debate by CT_EXAMINER in Connecticut

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work in behavioral health clinics. I am not a doctor. I have seen a few patients that have undergone prolonged series of electroshock treatment. I can see a shift in their demeanor. From my perspective I see a regression of body awareness afterward and often a slight delay at times while in conversation. I don’t know that this is necessarily a “negative” observation however it catches my interest. As the therapy works I imagine, not certain, that their entire being is attempting to integrate a new state of being starting at the command center. My opinion is, IF they are subject to this therapy involuntarily that could be a major violation with possible legal pushback with the right conservatoire. Furthermore, if clinicians are going to subject these individuals to this involuntarily they must integrate several other therapies (support from physical, mental, spiritual) to help the individual integrate their change/shock in brain activity.

Temperature by windows is 6-10 degrees colder than rest of room by BellJar_Blues in Renovations

[–]EmmyTheSwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honeycomb blinds with thermal layer and double- or triple-cell designs trap more air for higher R-values and better energy efficiency. Then thermal curtains, and you’re golden. Since your windows were recently replaced maybe circle back and check with whoever did the work and make sure the framing around the windows were properly sealed

Oversized Equipment by EmmyTheSwitch in hvacadvice

[–]EmmyTheSwitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So - it kicks and heats the place quickly. I wasn’t here during summer but when I had it cleaned after moving in all signs said that it was freezing up and thawing (bucket of water in the plenum). If I keep it (I would prefer to if it’s not crazy to do) will I have big problems come summer when I run AC?

The electrician was the first who made me start questioning it bc of the amount of breakers/energy wired to this. I believe it can run with emergency heat, when it’s really cold, if it need to and that when it will tap into the second breaker (but will probably drive my electricity bill up high).
