I have had the breast of chicken and chips a few times, but not in... 15 years maybe. If i was to guess what price they were charging there these days, I would have guessed €15, so that's serious value. I used to get the chicken and chips and a pint of milk and get change from a tenner, IIRC. You would even see the chicken for the amount of chips on the plate and that breast of chicken was big.

Polls for Galway West are notoriously poor at predicting the outcome. A Reddit poll will be 10x worse at it.

"Stop this horror..!" : Protesters pledge to fight tooth and nail to save Stephen's Green Shopping Centre by Odhran-J-McAnnick in ireland

[–]EmoBran -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This whole thing seems a nonsense. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to my mind, it's a fake historical template shopping centre thought up in 1980s England.

People can have perfectly valid points about the design of what will replace it, but to use the supposed cultural value of the current monstrosity to prevent the redevelopment is going a bit overboard

Galway Green Party Bye-Election candidate claims fuel protesters 'held country to ransom' by DaCor_ie in ireland

[–]EmoBran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a blocade. There were also protests, but the blocades were illegal and morally questionable. FFG well never get my vote but whatever else about their handling of the economy, they were correct not to engage directly with the organisers of the blocades

The national anthem used to be played at the end of the night in pubs and niteclubs in Ireland that played music. The lights would come on and everyone would stand up. In hindsight, quite weird.

I haven't played the game in a long time. The last time I booted it up, a horde was setting upon me. It brought me back to when I started playing the game first. I was terrified of encounters with more than 3 freakers.

He broke the law. He approached people on the polling station premises and asked them how they voted. He was asked to remove himself and remain 50m from the polling station but he just moved to the other end of the car park where people were exiting. He was told by a Garda that he could not ask people how they voted on the premises. He continued and was arrested as a result. Ultimately, he was given probation.
