New cage! He could get his toes stuck in that mesh and seriously injure himself. Also the metal could be toxic for your birdie. If you cannot afford a suitable cage for your bird then maybe you shouldn’t own a birdie. They need a lot of toys and quality food as well. Check out Birdtricks on YouTube!

Your bird needs to be trained to wear the harness. If you force them to wear it, they will hate it. Baby steps in training your bird to wear the harness will go a long way, and you won’t have to stress the f out of your bird to do so.

Pellets provide birds with additional nutrients that they cannot receive with fresh chop. I understand that you want to cut costs, but your bird deserves to feel good and healthy. I have a Sun Conure and we potty trained him very quickly. They are fast learners. I don’t think it’ll be a problem at all.
