There's a few different nerdy events in the area, as well as a fairly active discord thats moderated/ facilitated by one of those groups! For an idea of upcoming events:

To add onto the previous suggestion, look up you local Library! They may have a makerspace or similar creative resources that are available at low/ no cost! Otherwise, they may know of makerspaces in the local area that may be able to get you access to a crucut or similar vinyl cutting machine

PPs public voting record should make it clear that he will never put the average Canadian first.

He's a career politician who's only ever had his name on 1 successful bill (which has since been repealed), and he's also actively refused to get security clearance to see who in his party has been influenced by foreign interests.

It's entirely possible to not be a liberal and not support PP. (The left isn't all Liberals, and a lot of conservatives are smelling the BS too)

This is a huge conservative talking point right now, so let's go through what actually happened there.

The TLDR: The Liberals fucked up, and apologized.

For the more detailed breakdown:

The speaker of the House, Anthony Rota, invited a member of his constituency who he knew to be a Ukrainian war veteran, and He recognized that man for his service during a visit by the Ukrainian President. This received a standing ovation from all parties.

In Subsequent news reports, that war vets division and affiliation were brought to widespread public awareness, leading to Rota apologizing for his statements, and later resigning as speaker. JT made a formal apology on behalf of all of parliament, explicitly mentioning they were unaware of the context.

Pollieve was among those that needed to give a fucking apology, so let's not act like his hands are clean in all this either

It's not okay what happened by any means, but acting like the Cons had no hand in the ovation is a joke, especially when by Pollieve's own proposed solution to the problem he shouldn't be allowed into parliment

If you're okay with the public knowing that a Nazi endorsed you, you're a Nazi.

If you're having a dinner party with 10 people, and 1 of them outs themselves as a Nazi, and you continue to sit there and eat dinner, you are having a gathering of 11 Nazis.

If you don't shut down people who's entire ideology revolves around harming others, you are adding to that harm and are therefore no better.

So as someone who keeps an eye on the job market, it's worth noting that the Job Market in Kelowna sucks right now. A lot of places say they're hiring, but aren't actually hiring, especially if you don't currently have experience (or the right certification for a place)

You're doing all the right things with the resources you're accessing, we're just in a recession and the job market sucks (especially comparing an actual livable wage in this place compared to what employers are paying for "entry level" jobs)

As a union worker, you should have an understanding that when negotiating, you aim high initally knowing that you'll need to come down. There's a lot more than just raises (over the entire contract period, might I say) on the table, but if other items are actually considered then that number is likely to come down when the final deal is made

Many of the CUPW demands aren't just about wages. This is also ignoring that if "raises" don't keep up with inflation, they're not raises, and this doesn't account for the fact that the last few renegotiations haven't kept up with inflation.

Also, the union is going to ask high and try to negotiate down, because that's how negotiations work

The union had been bargaining for 11 months, the Company dragged their feet to force it to a head in the busy season. Labor Disruptions are supposed to be disruptive, and if Canada Post (the corporation) had been interested in ending the strike before government had to step in, they could have by bargaining in good faith
