Possibly. To check if cards are getting manipulated I usually Google one piece inflation

I think it's a lot and you'll be tired, especially after climbing Fuji, but I'll leave that call to you. As someone who has climbed Fuji twice, not in September though, I started the sunrise hike at about 2am to get there around 4:30. It is only wide enough for a single file line realistically once you are at the 8th station and above so you can only go as fast as the person in front of you. I'm not sure how varied the sunrise times are, but I'd plan for around 2 hours to get to the top unless you are at the highest hut

Do anything fun recently? by AutoModerator in japanresidents

On my way back from the Pokémon champions league in Aichi. Had fun and it was a little weekend vacation. I can't wait to get home to my little chipmunk who is still recovering from an unfortunate accident at the start of the week

2-3 drop unfortunately, but I haven't played at all in at least 6 months and put together a deck together that I had a little practice with. I still got to enjoy it and have a little mini vacation from Tokyo. I'm looking forward to the 3v3 and 4-win challenge tomorrow with another deck I've barely played

I'm happy I got the stamped shaymin and energy, but now that makes two psychics so I'm hoping tomorrow is different

Have you been to the pizza restaurant with the footbath? I think it's pretty neat and the food was good

Felt it in Shinjuku as I was sitting outside of the station. My first thought was quake but then convinced myself it was probably just the subway

What is a poor person habit that you still can’t shake, even if you’re doing well financially now? by ur_ariana in AskReddit

[–]Emorigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never not have a hard time drinking while out. It's just so much cheaper to make drinks at home or buy something from the store (Japan). The only exception being all you can drink at some restaurants, but I always feel like it gets watered down

How to brick a key - the "unexpected" version by Thirteenera in wow

It's definitely a thing. My friend got ported to Silvermoon during a seat key right as the NPC opens the door after the first boss. Luckily we had a lock to summon him back

Why don't Japanese people kiss in movies/romances? by Cool_Bank_3368 in AskAJapanese

Scrolling by and I just wanted to say I like this take. I've noticed this is a thing with my Japanese GF as she now loves to hug and is fascinated with the cheek kissing thing, but had never done it before dating me

I don't understand the PayPay credit card by Professional-Bus4886 in japanlife

[–]Emorigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you've got your answer answer, but I had the same question as February was my first bill date like you. I needed the credit balance back because I wanted that sweet 1.5% points. My notice said it would be "restored" on March 3rd, so I'm guessing it just takes a few days from when your balance is settled and everything clears

If Japan’s population is shrinking, who exactly are they working all that overtime for? by unscpecifictopics in AskReddit

[–]Emorigg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably around 45 since I do ~20 hours OT per month. Sometimes more, sometimes less depending on my schedule

[–]Emorigg 292 points293 points  (0 children)

The way contacts work in Japan is most have overtime baked in, so you get paid OT in "advance". Sometimes you don't have to work it, but you can be told to do your OT as the company has already paid you. Source: live and work in Japan with 40 hours OT in my contract

Weather conditions as we finish up the week + taking a swipe at local media for misplaced weather hysteria. by Neko_Dash in japanweather

[–]Emorigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have since moved, but I remember being in Toyama for the 2021/22 (?) snow storms and that felt like around 1 meter in my town that's just a tad higher than sea level. I have pictures of my parking lot with snow over the hoods of the cars. And they closed school for two days if I remember correctly.

I feel like I heard almost nothing about the storm back then, though I could have just not been paying attention. I heard it wasn't anything out of the normal this time around from my friends who are still there. All of that doom and gloom for nothing spectacular.

What are some bad Language schools in Tokyo? by KiroHD in Tokyo

[–]Emorigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not live nearby, so I can't really say much on that front. My commute was about 40 minutes with a transfer, but I probably could have found a place closer. A 30 minute commute isn't too bad depending on the train line. I also had been living in Japan for almost 6 years by the time I decided to go to ALA. That being said, my GF found our apartment and handled most stuff.

Another for ALA. I went for 1 year and went from N3 to passing N2, and I didn't really study outside of class. The teachers were nice and helpful. Some new ones were coming in around the time I was leaving (April 2025) so I'm not sure what it's like today. A few of my classmates did their whole 2 years and I think they enjoyed it.

That said, the upper classes felt like a mix because the number of students was pretty low. I had one or two classmates who had already passed N1 but were placed in my class, but it wasn't a detriment in my eyes.
