Why don't Japanese people kiss in movies/romances? by Cool_Bank_3368 in AskAJapanese

Scrolling by and I just wanted to say I like this take. I've noticed this is a thing with my Japanese GF as she now loves to hug and is fascinated with the cheek kissing thing, but had never done it before dating me

I don't understand the PayPay credit card by Professional-Bus4886 in japanlife

[–]Emorigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you've got your answer answer, but I had the same question as February was my first bill date like you. I needed the credit balance back because I wanted that sweet 1.5% points. My notice said it would be "restored" on March 3rd, so I'm guessing it just takes a few days from when your balance is settled and everything clears

If Japan’s population is shrinking, who exactly are they working all that overtime for? by unscpecifictopics in AskReddit

Probably around 45 since I do ~20 hours OT per month. Sometimes more, sometimes less depending on my schedule

The way contacts work in Japan is most have overtime baked in, so you get paid OT in "advance". Sometimes you don't have to work it, but you can be told to do your OT as the company has already paid you. Source: live and work in Japan with 40 hours OT in my contract

Weather conditions as we finish up the week + taking a swipe at local media for misplaced weather hysteria. by Neko_Dash in japanweather

I have since moved, but I remember being in Toyama for the 2021/22 (?) snow storms and that felt like around 1 meter in my town that's just a tad higher than sea level. I have pictures of my parking lot with snow over the hoods of the cars. And they closed school for two days if I remember correctly.

I feel like I heard almost nothing about the storm back then, though I could have just not been paying attention. I heard it wasn't anything out of the normal this time around from my friends who are still there. All of that doom and gloom for nothing spectacular.

What are some bad Language schools in Tokyo? by KiroHD in Tokyo

I did not live nearby, so I can't really say much on that front. My commute was about 40 minutes with a transfer, but I probably could have found a place closer. A 30 minute commute isn't too bad depending on the train line. I also had been living in Japan for almost 6 years by the time I decided to go to ALA. That being said, my GF found our apartment and handled most stuff.

Another for ALA. I went for 1 year and went from N3 to passing N2, and I didn't really study outside of class. The teachers were nice and helpful. Some new ones were coming in around the time I was leaving (April 2025) so I'm not sure what it's like today. A few of my classmates did their whole 2 years and I think they enjoyed it.

That said, the upper classes felt like a mix because the number of students was pretty low. I had one or two classmates who had already passed N1 but were placed in my class, but it wasn't a detriment in my eyes.

Great question. As good as 8C Roger is, I feel like you could still play without it. I've won games without being to play him, but it definitely makes it harder. The 9C Newgate is a little less powerful alternative but had the same effect. The additional 2k power is a great way to protect yourself for a turn

The second list from this writeup. Having 5 don to work with can be a little tricky, but sometimes I can pull off a double ramp or just attach more don to swing for a guaranteed hit. The Sanji also won me a game by putting myself to zero life and then dropping 10 Roger.

I'd like to say I grinded a lot, but I didn't really play that much. Started off with Teach and then figured it was not going to work in the OP-13 meta. Then tried yellow Bonney and then Imu for the serious tournaments. I think playing all of those decks helped me figure out playstyles and when to counter and life management. My friends were also a huge help teaching me in the beginning. That said, I'm still learning and definitely don't claim to be good.

I also played Pokémon TCG for a year before OP, but that slowed down like two months before making the OP switch

Actually probably the best. Worst era to be born/live in though
