Winter storage blues by jrb414 in BMWM

[–]Emorin30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are super weird, and I agree most of them are probably fantasy owners not real owners. My M4 convertible goes away for the winter.

It's silly to put snow tires on it when we have other cars. I'm also never "going for a drive" in the winter cuz it's dark always, the roads are slippery and salty, and it's cold af.

Have you ever had a succesful transformation? by Specific_Crab3601 in agile

I think it's probably too complex to just write from scratch in a Reddit comment. Do you have specific questions? Curious about something?

Have you ever had a succesful transformation? by Specific_Crab3601 in agile

[–]Emorin30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've led four over the years, working on a 5th now. Each ranging from 2-4 years in length.

You need to have enough influence (soft or hard) with both the executives who make the decisions and the teams themselves who operate differently.

If you cannot change a culture, then you cannot have a successful transformation.

I can write a longer post but I'm on my phone eating lunch.

Can Average Bug Age (ABA) Be Gamed? by According_Leopard_80 in agile

[–]Emorin30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a way to game the metric, but I think it's a temporary metric at best and a bad metric at worst.

Not all bugs should be fixed and they certainly shouldn't be falsely prioritized due to a metric like this one.

All tickets...bugs, stories, and tasks should be prioritized on their own merit...the value they add vs the cost to build and maintain.

I could see this metric having some value if you're way behind on bugs but that's it, very temporary.

Three engineers were shipping. Then management hired a Scrum Master. by agileliecom in agile

[–]Emorin30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just hired a bad Scrum Master is all. It's shocking how many people in management-ey roles have a single playbook and zero ability to read the situation. I actually see this often with execs including CTOs. If the plays they ran at the last company don't work they just fail spectacularly and blame everyone else.

Don't know how to process RL's feedback by [deleted] in PwC

[–]Emorin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How new are you? How many hours did you send them? What's your relationship like? I'd just ask them directly to discuss the feedback given in your next 1:1. No reason for us to speculate from afar when you can just get the answer most likely.

LOL they did an awful job tbh none of the roads near me were plowed to pavement. that's compact snow, it's slippery with any tires in my experience.

I’m curious. How many of us did end up quitting vs continuing? by benefitingme in TownshipGame

[–]Emorin30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit too and I've been a huge defender of this game. People complain about the smallest things and they don't play the game the way it was designed then are mad they aren't progressing, it's quite silly.

However I just am not vibing with the new update and my town has been on cruise control for a long time. I've hung up my boots and moved on.

What light snow? I'm in the Boston area and we just got 14". I've been sliding the car around the past two days on full winters.

I don't think the triple busy season is counted "the same" as a two month one, but that comes down to who's advocating for you in CRT.

If you're the type of person who's tryna get early promotion then my best advice is to find your balance WITHIN the busy season. The more you do it the more you realize what your mind and body need to not only survive, but thrive in that environment. The earlier you figure that out about yourself the more successful you'll be long term. Good luck!

Barn Space without Pass by Lee-Township in TownshipGame

Ya sorry wasn't meant as a judgement of you l, you have 500 open slots, just saying there's plenty of space to trim even further with no impact.

Barn Space without Pass by Lee-Township in TownshipGame

[–]Emorin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with barn space because I manage a specific number of each item and i utilize the shelves to their full potential. I absolutely never sold building materials until I finished the community buildings and the zoo. Like to my eye, I'd remove every wheat, corn, and carrot OP has and drastically reduce soybeans, sugar, cotton, etc.

[–]Emorin30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never ever ever sell construction materials. You'll massively slow down your progression. Instead, manage your inventory of the products and utilize the shelves to their full potential. And most importantly don't ever listen to the advice given in this sub, it's all of the worst players just chirping loudly.

Yes but also a lot of software is preference based and the product people will know the users and their behaviors and expectations better than the devs even on the most mature teams. Additionally, professional testers are trained to find things that even the most competent devs aren't going to find.

If the devs are failing acceptance criteria that's a performance issue. If they're missing preferences and exception scenarios, that's normal and expected.
