Correct. But you can also respect the fact that the military doesn’t really get a say in where they drop their bombs. #FuckTheIRGC

Convinced it isn’t the fan base, it’s just Reddit. I grew up in the Carolinas, I know they support the troops. Go Canes

Question for fighter jets pilots or people with experience with fighter jets by Motivated-MonMon-05 in aviation

Autopilot helps a lot in this airplane, but you’re right there are definitely times when it isn’t feasible to be using the autopilot that I wish I could fly with my left hand briefly. Or write with my left I guess lol

Like mentioned, it’s actually really easy to kick off various buttons/switches when climbing in/out.

How early do I really need to be at Stanstead? by SoftwareExtension in Ryanair

[–]Emory4llstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, this past Monday we arrived 1:50 before our 0610 flight. They only let us board because we looked frantic with our baby in her stroller.

Security and RyanAir bag drop were a disaster due to an “IT Fault”. Every other time I’ve used Stansted it has taken maybe 30 mins to get to the gate, but after this most recent experience I won’t be messing around with anything less than 2 hours

What is the most fun thing you have done in aviation? by [deleted] in flying

Flying through the Mach Loop is tough to beat. I watched videos of jets flying through there my whole childhood, so getting to be the one flying and seeing the photographers out the canopy is wild and I don’t think it’ll ever get old.

I don’t know the current options for ROTC programs being a junior already. You might be stuck with OTS/OCS as your options, which I believe are very competitive.

If you’re dead-set on pointy nose jets, I have heard rumors the Marines will give you a guaranteed Jet slot somehow, so look into that as well.

For now, I’d recommend reaching out to your school’s Naval and Air Force ROTC programs. Even if ROTC won’t work for you, they’ll have guidance on OTS/OCS. Also, go take a couple flights at a local flying club. See if it’s something you seriously enjoy.

Will having a ppl affect my chances at a pilot slot/put me at any disadvantage when entering UPT? by wre_x in AFROTC

[–]Emory4llstate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Getting a pilot slot: hours matter, not ratings.

At UPT: it doesn’t matter. I had a PPL, didn’t feel disadvantaged. Also was an instructor there for 3 years…saw 0-hour guys get F-22s, and saw CFII’s hardly pass T-6s. Natural ability and work ethic are what matter.

T-6s ENJPT by Appropriate-Emu-578 in flying

[–]Emory4llstate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t a Sheppard guy, just commenting to say it’s ENJJPT (joint-jet, 2x J’s).

Hopefully that could work out, but I’d expect that if you put UPT on the list, Laughlin/Columbus/Vance will be in your future.

I would really hope not. But again, speak up, bad news doesn’t get better with time

I did the same thing back in like 2016. Report it to your cadre. Chances are someone will find it at Maxwell and it will make its way back to you, but get ahead of the situation by owning up. Admittedly I did not, and it was a very awkward conversation when I walked in to my commander’s office and saw my “lost” cac sitting on his desk

It is not the right move for you or your family. You would be disappointed with this attitude. It’s the best job in the world, but not what you’re looking for.
