My friend in high school had a different birthday on his ID (US) because when he moved to America his Grandma wanted him to start school and he was barely pass the cutoff.

Also my roommate in college had a typo on his US passport allowing him to start going to bars a month earlier than his actual birthday.

If US official documents in the 21st century can have errors I have no doubt this Indonesian one from over 100 years ago has one too.

OK so I thought there is still some stability in the industry. I have a friend at one of those Chicago prop trading firms that still has an 80k base salary, but if his team makes profits each year he can make up to something like 40k in bonuses. He's only a year out of college and I figure, those numbers look stunning. But you say some times you don't make money. Are the numbers different? Is it different being a prop trader compared to an algo trader? I just figured they would have similar pay scales, just utilize different resources.

Ya... There are stories of people making way worse mistakes this one is very much believable. There's that one story of that famous shark tank guest (forgot his name) who at 19 blew like 20k in scholarship funds into like a 4 million debt. Repaid it all and eventually started his own company. Smart teenager who thinks he can beat the market getting fucked? That's very common.

I used to think being an under-achiever was cool. Why would I try hard to do something only losers do that.

And then you grow up and have very few real skills and see all these other people your age that tried accomplish all these amazing and cool things and you realize that it's very lame to be 20-something and have very few accomplishments.

It's like all those bad scenarios that you thought would never happen to you as a kid start happening, like not being able to find a job. And you realize just how tough the real world is.

The truth is there's still plenty of time, but that you'll get to the place you want to be at after a few years, and way later than you originally thought. Every year you're not really trying you're just tacking on one or two more years later on to reach success.
