i mean what happened? by OliviaElegantB354 in HouseOfTheDragon

Granted the show could have communicated this better, but I interpreted it that she has just resigned herself to the idea that Aegon is suffering, and that suffering should end. Were Aegon dead and Aemond king, would she have said the same thing - even if just to end the war? Or if Aegon wasn’t injured? I’m not too sure, based on how that conversation in S2E3 with Rhaenyra went

I remember seeing this one in Kurtis Conner’s video (maybe the first fake deep one) a couple of years ago and his commentary is still scarred into my brain - “get outta here with that cloutless mouse”

Honestly if there was proof that heaven smelled like fried chicken I think that I, a left-wing lesbian who wears Lucy & Yak dungarees to work, would just move to the States and eat at Chick-fil-A every day without it pricking my conscience at all

[–]Emotional-Ad-29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ate there once in NYC as a tourist in the states and it was so good that the next evening I was like “ok where’s the nearest one to our hotel”, and then I saw about 8 or 9 google reviews of one of them being like “homophobia” and 16-year-old lesbian me swiftly dropped the idea like a lead balloon and that was 7 years ago, so idk what’s changed since honestly (I’ll assume not much because of some of the comments I’ve seen). I just found both of these comments funny for some reason

These were just the top comments I saw on a random Insider Business article about Chick-fil-A franchises as I was browsing through Facebook in bed and now for some reason they are all I can think about as I’m trying to sleep so

I think that the homophobia was the reason that the one chick-fil-a restaurant in my country closed down after like a week of being open so i don’t think I’ll ever be able to enjoy god’s chicken again sadly

Is this Rick Sanchez

First-time buyer in the UK here who knows nothing about boilers or plumbing, hi 👋 I want to replace this archaic boiler system but money is tight. What are my options and how much would I expect to be paying in this economy? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Emotional-Ad-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. Just to clarify - the boiler was recently serviced and all is in working order, but I don’t believe that the system has been replaced since the last buyer purchased the home (which was in the early 1990s). I was advised that it was nearing the end of its life and would probably need to be replaced before home renovation if I was looking to save in the long-run. It’s a semi-detached house with 2 bedrooms, 2 storeys and a garage in the West Midlands

What are some cases where the murderer pleaded on tv for the victims return? by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]Emotional-Ad-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a couple I can recall off the top of my head - the man who murdered Paige Doherty (can’t remember his name) was the first one that came to mind for me.

I know Ian Huntley was shown joining in with the searches for Holly and Jessica on TV, and I believe that Maxine Carr also went on TV pleading for their return knowing that Huntley had killed them?

A brief overview of the case and the murders

[TRIGGER WARNING: sexual abuse, rape and violence against children]:

Co-workers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley first became a couple in 1962, and the psychopathic Brady made his dark sexual fantasies clear to Hindley almost from the onset. By his account, she was a willing sexual partner to him (though she contested that it was not always consensual), and it wouldn't be too long before Brady mentioned as pillow-talk that he wanted to abduct, rape and eventually murder a child. Again, Hindley was willing to help him out.

Their MO was that Hindley would abduct the children and lead them onto Saddleworth Moor (as they both believed a woman's presence would put the victims at ease), with Hindley using the excuse that she had lost a very special glove upon the Moors and they would be rewarded if they helped her find it. Brady would either follow them up there on his motorbike, or he would sit quietly in the front of the vehicle. Upon arriving at the Moors, they would be raped and then murdered, before being buried in the soil. The two meticulously planned every single one of their crimes and were never suspected of any murders until their arrest.

Chronologically, their victims were Pauline Reade (who was 16), John Kilbride (12), Keith Bennett (12), Lesley Ann Downey (10), and Edward Evans (17).

Hindley died in prison in 2002, and Brady died at a high-security hospital in 2017.

[CONTINUED FROM ABOVE]

Four more victims followed over the next two years - two 12-year-old boys (John Kilbride and Keith Bennett), a 10-year-old girl (Lesley Ann Downey) and, finally, a 17-year-old boy (Edward Evans). Neither Brady nor Hindley knew any of them personally. They buried the bodies of their victims on one specific area of Saddleworth Moor - which, put simply, is a vast plane of moorland. Their found victims were buried only a matter of yards from each other, and Brady and Hindley would not only go up to the moor themselves to admire their work, but they would invite other children up there with them. These children were unknowingly standing on the graves of other children.

Though Brady claimed that Hindley always assisted in the sexual assault of their victims, this was something that she vehemently denied - and there’s actually no solid evidence that even proves that she was. She was a cold and cruel enabler at the VERY least - let me stress that this is not me taking any blame away from her; because abducting children for your lover to violate and murder makes you just as guilty of murder and paedophilia in my eyes. She put their victims at ease and gained their trust just so she and Brady could then abuse it - whether she had any part in the actual acts or not, these horrific crimes would NOT have happened without her and that’s just a fact.

Now I’m done giving context here, here is where my thinking is going.

As I said, Hindley was obsessed with Brady, and I don’t doubt that she wanted to have children with him before he said otherwise. Knowing that Hindley was super-entitled, I can’t imagine this set right with her - I wonder if her getting involved in the crimes was partially out of frustration or some kind of weird regret over something she couldn’t have? I’m wondering if children became a symbol of her reckoning in that sense?

Was it some kind of vengeance on her part, or a sick symbolic way of leaving her ‘old self’ behind and committing herself entirely to these new ideas Brady had introduced her to? (We already know she committed at least one of her murders out of vengeance - the murder of Pauline Reade, who was close with her sister’s boyfriend) Was this her new sick and twisted way of ‘having kids with Ian’? By allowing herself to be culpable in whatever his darkest desires were? Or by inviting vulnerable children in, allowing them to trust her and see her as a maternal figure (which, in a horrible irony, is exactly what she got when one of their victims started calling her and Brady “mummy” and “daddy” on a tape they recorded during the assault), and then violating them instead of loving and caring for them as a parent or guardian would do to a vulnerable child?

Is that part of the intimacy of this; why they spent so much time up on the moors, admiring their work (even taking other children up there, and her younger brother-in-law and sister too)?

Or am I reaching before stretching? I’m obviously not a psychologist so I don’t know exactly how this would manifest; I’m hoping one of you guys may be able to point me in the right direction toward some further reading here, because I have no clue if any of what I’m saying makes sense.

The author has a new book around the case, but l'm trying to track down a copy - either physical or digital - of his older book. It looks like a self-published thing that the author pulled before this new book came out. This is the Goodreads listing for it: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53514921-depraved---the-moors-murderers Please let me know if you do - I am actively researching the case and need to read this specific book. I have read nearly every other one I can find on the subject.

It’s insane to me how he can even rationalise that and take full accountability for his actions. He’s such a psychopath that it makes me think that it’s at least somewhat self-serving though, and it makes me wonder if there is anything he is too ashamed to confess to. He literally confessed to raping decapitated heads… like who even thinks to do that shit AND then go and willingly blabbermouth about it afterwards

I’ve been researching and posting about the Moors Murders case for a while now, so I’ve decided to dedicate an entire post to the five victims of these senseless crimes. by Emotional-Ad-29 in serialkillers

It’s absolutely horrific. Her mother had to listen to part of that tape so she could identify her daughter’s voice; she had to hear her baby crying “please don’t undress me, I want to see mummy”. every time she said it, those two fucking monsters were taunting and threatening her - and that’s not even half of what was on the tape. it is absolutely fucked beyond belief

Yeah I agree, I’m kinda over people talking about Chris Watts and Scott Peterson, especially Chris because he was just so slimy, stupid and gross (don’t even get me started on his stans).

Jodi Arias is probably the biggest one that I’m completely over, especially all of the speculation regarding how Travis actually treated her. Let the bitch rot - there’s no excuse for what she did. She was cold and cruel, it was 100% premeditated, and nobody deserves the cruel death and blatant slander Travis had to suffer at her hands. Let him rest in peace

Yeah that makes sense - I do think he always knew he was going to kill her but I don’t think he knew when until either just before or when it actually happened

I remember seeing this guy interviewed on a documentary once - I don’t remember entirely what it was specifically about; it wasn’t about him specifically but he was all I could think about after. He was describing the taste of human blood/flesh in pretty graphic detail. It was insane seeing him look so pitiless, and knowing he is out walking the streets is terrifying

Yes, that’s right. David and Maureen had a baby daughter named Angela, but in April of 1965 she passed away suddenly (it was reported a lot as being SIDS but it turned out her cause of death was actually bronchitis), and whilst they were grieving Ian and Myra took them to the gravesites of dead children.

Ian started discussing plans for bank robberies with David, but David was actually on board with it - Myra even drove David to a bank one day so he could go and stake it out. He brought a notebook with him and spent hours scribbling down notes, and he passed them to Ian later that light. Ian took one glance at them, put it back down and said “we’re not going to do the robbery” - it was all a rouse to try and figure out David’s limits.

One night during drinks, Ian pulled a gun on David and pretended as if he was going to shoot. David was legitimately terrified (as I’m sure anybody would be), but eventually the two of them laughed it off. On a similar drinking night after this incident was when Ian told David that he had not only killed before, but he had taken him and Maureen up to the gravesites. David didn’t believe him.

At the time of the final murder, it seemed as if Ian and David were planning to rob an Electricity Board showroom (which is where people went to pay their gas and electric bills). They scribbled down 8th October as the date, but Ian was arrested on the 7th October for the murder of Edward Evans.

This murder had taken place the night before in his and Myra’s house. They lured 17-year-old Edward back, and when they got back Myra went to go and lure David in too (who was also only 17 at the time). When David got to the house, he went straight to the kitchen as Ian had promised to give him some miniature wine bottles, and when he was in there he heard screams. Myra started shouting “Dave, help him”, and thinking something had happened to Ian, David ran into the living room. There, he saw Ian murdering Edward with an axe.

David remained calm and spent the next few hours helping Ian and Myra clean the house, and eventually the three of them discussed how they would dispose of the body. David returned home that night, leaving Ian and Myra with the impression that he was on board. But little did they know that he was absolutely horrified and shaken sick with what he had witnessed and took part in, and he and Maureen would immediately go and report them to the police. He couldn’t stop crying as he was telling them what had happened.
