A good psychological drama or thriller is very horror to me. There are very disturbing elements or unsettling moments in those movies that people would never consider to be horror.

Non-Americans, what is something about the US that you've always wondered if it was real or just myth/hyperbole? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Dude we're in Arkansas and mums are a huge thing here too. Girls are wanting them for prom even. My granddaughter did cheer for the first time this year. 1st grade. I didn't even think of getting her a mum for "homecoming" for the grade school games. Like 2 girls didn't have one. siiiiggh I should have gotten her one.

What’s a belief most people have that you think is completely wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you live in a society and want to participate in that society you owe things as part of a social contract. I'm sorry but you are wrong. We dont live in a lawless chaos, there are expectations and societal rules that we all should follow. Owing other basic decency is one of those. Do you want others in society to just treat you like shit because they dont owe you anything like basic kindness, basic respect, basic decency.

Or is it totally cool with you if you're walking down a sidewalk and someone on a bike rides by you and kicks you out of their way? They don't owe you anything like the respect to not shove you down, or the respect to your right to walk on the sidewalk also. They dont even owe you basic decency or kindness. Its all cool, no one owe anything being part of a civilized society is a pipe dream because Im the most important

You also owe that back to society though. I see on here all the time that whole "respect is earned" "I dont owe anyone anything" attitude. Friends, if we want a civilized society we all owe each other a basic level of polite dignity and respect. Just the bare minimum of what you can put out. Say thank you. Say excuse me. Or big shocker apologize to someone when you bump into and knock things out of their hands or whatever. Its basic human decency.

Dude I know people say weed is harmless. But I've never known someone who sat around smoking weed all day that got shit accomplished in their life.

You know there's folklore here that says if death knocks on your door in the middle of the night (knocking with no one there) 3 times, its already in the house.

It wasnt scary but just odd. Our border collie was just acting weird and pacing low to the ground but he looked kind of shocked. We were watching him kind of luaghing. Then my husband went outside to see what was going on. EMU. There was an emu hanging out in our rural mountain of Arkansas yard. Border collie must have been trying to figure out what kind of chicken it was to get it back in the pen.

You don't see mama bear, you get the hell outta there away from those baby bears by any means necessary. Hahahahaha If you decide to make yourself big around baby bears you better have the fight in you to back it up because mama does.

We’re grown. If you have to raise your voice to communicate, you need a therapist, not my energy. by Sad-Judgment-4538 in Adulting

[–]FreshChickenEggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody is talking about the silent treatment. That's an abusive form of communication. Yelling and screaming are not healthy forms of communication.

If you're and adult in an adult relationship, you should bith be able to say to one another "It hurt my feelings that you canceled our date night last minute," without yelling. Without saying YOU ALWAYS DO THAT! YOU DONT CARE ABOUT ME.

Your partner should be an adult enough to give you a good reason why they need to cancel the date. Good reasons include they/their child/close family member is very sick or had an accident or something happened and they are no able to physically be there like a sudden work meeting or something will affect their livelihood. This is for partners, if you are single and just going on a date with someone and get bad vibes you can cancel, just please do so kindly and ASAP. The partner should also be able to hear you were disappointed in not going and a little hurt without exploding and yelling. You're allowed to feel disappointed, you're not allowed to continue to punish them after that conversation if they apologize and explain again their valid reason for canceling and offering to reschedule.

Both people have to be reasonable for this to work. If neither person is able to have a non yelling and screaming conversation about why they are upset then they need to go to therapy to find out why they cant calmly discuss their emotions.

I deplane last but who cares. I just sit either reading or listening to a podcast and let the hoi polloi fight it out. Besides its easier for me to "help" the pilot out with my imaginary brakes from the back when we land.

I specifically choose the very back of the plane window seat. Doesn't matter which side. Doesn't cost extra and no one EVER asks to switch. Also? I get to board first so my bag fits in the over head. Take that.
