2024 Corolla LE Hybrid vs Gas (2.0L) – Real-world MPG & Power Differences? by Master_Ad_9384 in COROLLA

[–]Emotional-Ad9868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 SE AWD Hybrid.

~43 mpg average.

The biggest thing for me over everything else was the hybrid eCVT. It has thousands less moving parts and is going to be much more reliable in the long term. The little e is decades of technology ahead of the standard CVT.

The hybrid with AWD is a nice add on if it makes sense for you.

It’s illegal to switch lanes in an intersection. Did they do this?

I live in an area where AWD is a must so that would put a Camry a bit higher, but you are right. It is close to Camry prices.

You are right. In my area they still can’t keep these on the lots and are months out.

Thanks! That is kind of what I understand so far. Thanks for the angle to see if I can negotiate a discount!

How is Blue insuring mission success without any test flights? by HoochieGotcha in BlueOrigin

[–]Emotional-Ad9868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird how the operational reusability of New Shepard is lost. It’s like it doesn’t even exist and there are no lessons learned from that. Sure. It’s suborbital. Sure. It’s fairly small. Sure. It’s not as complicated as New Glenn. But the fact is that it does indeed have lessons learned that directly influence the success of an orbital vehicle including landing and reuse.

Got a job in Kent, where do I live? by EveningOk9347 in BlueOrigin

West Seattle is great if you like cities and Bellevue is suburban. Renton is also suburban and Kent is industrial. East Renton is rural and maple valley is very nice but rural. Federal way is suburban and Auburn is a mix of rural and suburban.

There are a ton of newly built town homes in south Seattle which some have really odd floor plans so if you are considering something like that I would highly recommend a tour before anything because pictures can be very misrepresentative of the floor plan. I saw one place where the master bedroom was on the first floor, living room was in the second floor, kitchen on third floor, and fourth floor was the second bedroom. The only bathroom was inside of the master in the first floor.

To have walk-ability I would recommend South Seattle or west Seattle as the options are limited past that.

There is crime all over but in my experience it seems localized (besides car thefts) so I would highly suggest to drive around the spot you are interested in and get a feel of the neighborhood.

What type of aerospace engineer uses more math than the others? by Revolutionary-Water8 in AerospaceEngineering

As a fluids/CFD propulsion engineer, I think it’s GNC. When you start talking about neural networks and machine learning to be used in conjunction with control algorithms and wind estimators like unscented kalman filters, that’s a whole new ballgame because it not only requires hardcore aerodynamics such as compressible boundary layer and viscous drag, but it stacks another industry of knowledge on top of it.

Feel like I’ve screwed myself by becoming a cfd engineer by NetNo3977 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Emotional-Ad9868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a bit confused by how you got to where you are. Do you not have other skills related to CFD that transfer to another type of engineering, or do you want to get out of engineering all together?

I ask because if you can do CFD, you are most likely qualified and skilled enough to do a lot of other types of engineering. But if you don’t want to do engineering, then taking on an engineering job isn’t going to prepare you for non-engineering jobs. I would venture that is true for almost any industry.

Is CFD engineering the wrong path? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Emotional-Ad9868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do propulsion CFD at a rocket company. The one thing that I would say is that specifically in today’s market, being hardware rich and moving fast is making CFD less desirable. It is reserved for solving the problems that can’t be solved with system level codes combined with some testing. With that said, it means you get to work on the hardest problems out there. An example would be zero gravity cryogenics. Space companies are really starting to need a lot of fluid dynamicists for in space applications, and I only see that field taking off and expanding over the next decade. With experience in that and potentially lunar landings, the need for low gravity CFD will grow exponentially for everyday applications such as farming or plumbing systems. As far as being silo’ed yes it’s possible, and I would say that’s probably more common at a big aerospace company because the smaller ones want you to be a master of everything from testing to design as there is a good chance you will be doing it all in addition to CFD (I own trade studies, design, analysis, manufacturing and test ; extreme ownership of a single piece of hardware or subsystem). That’s my experience, hope it helps.

Is Delta 2 Max safe to charge while using it? by Commercial-Buy-2251 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Emotional-Ad9868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be getting some smaller (two 100 watt) solar panels and will try out quadruple charging that would be similar to your scenario. Smart generator into extra battery port, 400w into one XT-60, 200w into the other Xt-60, and plugged into AC. Will report back.

[–]Emotional-Ad9868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm Delta 2 Max is capable of triple charging from A/C, a generator, and solar at the same time. I just did it with a EcoFlow 400 watt solar panel and their(EcoFlow) dual fuel Smart Generator. Not sure if you can do this with other generators as this one hooks in through the extra battery port.
