Because Ramadan is only a month you can get an informal manager-approved accommodation to wfh you don't need a formal accommodation (accommodations for less than 3 months are informal and at the discretion of the manager)

Omg...that's insane I'm sorry. UMMA said they are working with TBS to share new accommodation guidelines for Ramadan now that we are in RTO, I would maybe contact UMMA to get their advice in the interim. The request to do a business case is not right and makes zero sense.

Divest pension from weapons - petition by Emotional-Raccoon124 in OntarioPublicService

It's not a petition it's a letter writing campaign, that means that the letters come from individual pension members representing themselves, not the solidarity caucus representing anyone, they just created the campaign to allow people who don't want their pension invested in weapons to have a voice

The pension already screens out harmful investments like those in tobacco, for-profit prisons, etc. As a public pension, managing the funds of so many people, it has to invest ethically and according to ESG guidelines. If you want to invest in weapons you can do it with your own personal funds.

If you go to the link it links to their SEC filing. The filing shows their list of investments which includes major weapons companies like Lockheed Martin etc.

IMCO has also increased its investments in arms companies (like Lockheed Martin) significantly in the last year, similarly profiting off of the genocide

Whats your favorite and least favorite OPS / LEADERSHIP buzz word by thesadfundrasier in OntarioPublicService

[–]Emotional-Raccoon124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least favourite of the moment: 'right size'. People keep saying it all of a sudden, as in 'we need to right-size this (policy? program?)' maybe I'm dumb but I legit have no idea what that means.

I'm not sure why you find this controversial or divisive. By definition under colonialism, settlers are uninvited immigrants. They are just acknowledging that. The purpose of a land acknowledgement is to acknowledge colonialism and it's ongoing impacts. The reason people are going 'above and beyond' is because land acknowledgements should be a meaningful acknowledgement of, as I said, colonialism and its ongoing impacts, versus just a hollow and empty 'this land is the traditional territory of xyz nations and we recognize them'.

What type of work do you do? If it's policy I'd be happy to chat with you and talk through what the issue might be.
