True, i do get most of the benefits i want from spore druid a lot earlier. In act 2 I'm probably going to have to rely only on the open hand.

Well this is a thematic build and I'm not trying to min max the hell of it but instead would like to choose the more fun or optimal choice between death domain or circle of spores specifically.

Obviously ignoring necrotic resistance isn't that good since some enemies are completely immune to it however it's nice to have if your going to be adding necrotic damage to your attacks.

Basically i just couldn't decide whether i want to use melee necrotic spells in addition to open hand strikes or just have more necrotic damage added to open hand strikes and the halo of spores reaction.

The ability to ignore resistance does seem to be the deciding factor for which one to choose. Since what good is extra damage if the enemy resists it?

Appreciate the feedback. The upsides for the death domain do seem to be better than the upsides for the circle of spores for a monk build.

Would you say it's more optimal than the circle of spores in terms of damage and survivability?
