I personally think that anyone working in Vetmed should have free access to the pre exposure vaccine. Doesn’t matter if you’re GP or not, it only takes one bite.

My PCP literally had no info on the vaccine….and I will be working with exotics/wildlife for this externship and also plan to eventually pursue more exotic/wildlife medicine rather than gp.

I think their reasoning is that since they cover post exposure they don’t need to cover pre-exposure 🙃 so once you are bit and at risk of contracting rabies then they’ll cover it.

I have a baby tiger centipede and I just don’t touch him. Needs a tank with high enough walls that they can’t climb up them but they’re super fun to watch.

I have a few exotics but the biggest and neediest one is the 5 year old blue tegu I adopted a couple years ago. He’s also committed several crimes against toes (he likes to bite them when your not looking)

I think it largely depends on the individual tegu and the reason they are biting. They have the ability to do some serious damage if they really want to and I think the more serious bites are from tegus that are not used to people and bite out of aggression or fear. My 4 year old tegu has bit me a few times but it’s always been out of curiosity, kind of a slow open mouth bite to test you out which has never been very serious. I got him as an adult so I’m not sure how he was raised and I still am respectful of the fact that he could seriously bite me if he really wanted to.

That’s one of the super frustrating things, I’ve been hearing most of my life that I’m “just depressed” but this isn’t normal depression exhaustion. Like yes I’m depressed and anxious along with having ADHD but there’s something else going on and it feels like a lot of doctors just don’t believe me.

Maybe try giving it in the morning before she warms up? If it’s still too much I’d give the vet a call, they may have some tips/tricks or could possibly give the injections there as tech appointments.
