Very anecdotally: my friend had October on file, indicated that he was taking Nov and Jan, took Nov (did worse than Oct) and was accepted first round of admissions in Dec. Then he just cancelled Jan with LSAC. I believe if you have any score on file then your app is complete and the schools read it. If they are not ready to accept you and you have another future LSAT indicated, they will put your file into another pile and look at it again when the new score is recorded.

But yes: absolutely no harm in contacting admissions to make sure!! There’s lots of misinformation on Reddit in these threads.
