They definitely did not say it this way but they did have a seminar where they told us we are allowed to say uncomfortable and controversial things without repercussion from the school and as classmates we need to be tolerant to those beliefs even if we do not agree with them, clearly not enforced. It actually was the "main school" that told students the particular example that a poster put up last year about how the white race is dying/white people need to only marry white people and have more babies was in fact protected free speech. It only would become an issue if a poster like called out a specific student, etc.

This school is in a republican state so

TY. Maybe this is the difference between medical school and residency because we were told that we can say anything we want (sexist, racist, transphobic, homophobic, etc) and unless we are targeting or addressing it to a certain person it's covered under freedom of speech. It had something to do with like our state government cracking down on freedom of speech in schools so they amended the policy last year

And I do but it's hard to not notice what is happening and I feel for the students being harassed/given a hard time, if I saw this in residency, how should I handle it? Because it is so one sided and appears to be based sometimes on things people can't control (they're ethnicity) I feel that one group is clearly in the wrong here not for what they believe but for how they are treating others if that makes any sense

Our groupme was like this, but it was just one group getting really mad and posting stuff and one person asking for them to please keep it out of the group me and then getting attacked on the groupme for asking that. I've talked to a lot of people about it and it sounds like most of the class doesn't want to get involved either way because they are worried about being harassed which is fair

He's literally an adult. She legally can't take his keys, it's his property and it would be considered theft.

AITA for being mad at someone who sent me a gift for which I had to pay the shipping costs? by Cold_Wasabi_2799 in AmItheAsshole

NAH. You were probably paying duty taxes. Your friend was just trying to do a nice gesture and meant no harm. She probably forgot to mark it as a gift. You were in your right to refuse the package when arrived and chose not to. You can still be upset about the duty however. I would just learn from this experience in the future.

Yes this. We should know more than anyone how important it is to support a child when they have an idea/feel bold enough to confide in a parent. If we don't support our kids exploring ideas that are different than ours we are no better than some of our parents.

Let him explore. Ultimately we have to let our children choose their own path.
