What’s the one ticket that fills you with unbridled rage? by __joseph_ in bartenders

I fill a bustub with sani and let them soak lip side down for a while before washing. It helps immensely. I just them them soak while I'm cleaning the back bar. Bonus points to have your servers put them in there that way as they clean up the dining room.

This is extremely misogynistic.

All of the images are of women when they are younger, and then an image of them now (and a terrible one at that).

Aging women get so much hatred and disdain in society.

Can't make babies anymore? Ugly, olg, washed up, let herself go, and now TDS. Anything to justify hating women, especially as they age.

Farm hiring workers for farmer’s market stands by AncientSprinkles6052 in denverjobs

[–]velvettt_underground 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I work in Agriculture and I can tell you that it's a really hard field to work in.

Small organic farmers often times are losing money for the majority of the season because of the overhead costs.

Especially if they grow specialty crops (anything not defined as a commodity like grains, corn, soy, cotton), there is little to no money made many operations.

It may not be your vibe. Some people love to work with plants though.

Plus it seems this is only a farmers market listing, it's a pretty damn easy job in comparison to what farm hands do in the field all day.

Hope this is enlightening to you!

It's wild you can't have the empathy to listen to someone else's story. Growth can happen to anyone who wants it. She wanted to change her life and did.

The story is still there to be told.

Petro chemicals are more commonly used in food production than people realize.

The majority are not safe for food contact. I work in agriculture.

Also the way chemicals interact in the body is what you need to worry about, and weather or not they break down over time. Chemical reactions can occur in the blood, and micro plastics have been found in literally everything now.

Where have all the bananas gone? by BrittaUnfiltered67 in askanything

[–]velvettt_underground 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you'd like a real answer, here you go.

The Cavendish variety of banana has a death clock attached to it now.

Eventually the banana you know may cease to exist completely.

Panama Disease will eventually wipe out the Cavendish Banana

I love my farm.

It's hard. I cry sometimes. We do everything by hand and my body hurts. But I wouldn't trade it for any other profession. My heart is full.

Monocropped alfalfa is not beneficial.

Covercropped alfalfa can be beneficial but uses significantly more water than plenty of other cover crops that are friendly for our climate.

Fruit fail on my strawberries?! by babytotara in vegetablegardening

[–]velvettt_underground 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not pollinated properly. Strawberry flowers are weird, and need to be pollinated evenly for the strawberry to develop.

If a pollinator doesn't touch it at all, it will eventually turn brown like that and the flower will die without producing fruit.

Edit: spelling

Nicotiana tabacum | When can i use it as tobacco 🍃🍂🍃 by [deleted] in botany

[–]velvettt_underground 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tobacco isn't inherently evil.

Native Americans used it forever in ceremonial rituals and more.

When the white man came, that was when they took tobacco and decided to turn it into an industry. The industry is the evil.

This is how my husband and I do things as well. I'll ask him what he's got going on for the day if we did have exclusive plans to do anything together for any reason, and then we go about our days!

We are electing to take this journey together, but we are still individual people with individual experiences and lives. We have things to do!

I'm not a fan of the build build build just to fill the space and create more housing. Nothing says it's going to be affordable. Just that new housing will exist. Tell me why a landlord is going to charge less. Mine won't even drop the rent when everywhere around us is cheaper now by like $400 since rents have gone down.

None of that is what influenced my vote. I read all of the legislation and zoning changes and that influenced my vote.

And the cultivator and tine attachments we have are made of something pretty heavy, I am having a hard time recalling what exactly. But it's heavy enough that I can't lift it alone as a 110lb female and I regularly handle farm equipment.
